Wow...I'm such a puss. Crazy shit.
Nah, you're not. An earthquake is a funny feeling cause unlike most natural phenomena, the only sure fire safety from it is to be in an airplane/helicopter. People have read about or seen them on TV, but unless you have been through one, you just don't know; the severity of course is different at different places. One of the first one's I remember a friend was over after school and we were chilling eating food watching television. He stood up to shake the crumbs off of his lap and as soon as he started to shake the earthquake just happened to start. This wasn't a small one as the house was seriously rocking back and forth and I am amazed it was still standing as high as it was rocking- Think of your floor being four foot in the air, on one side of the house so the other side would be -4, and each side taking turns changing their y-axis location. My instincts immediately yelled at him "Fuck man sit the fuck down" as I was tripping that his girth was enough to rock the two story house. He freaking out himself yells back "it's not me" Funny and scary time.
If you live in California, just try and keep a weeks worth of food and water stored up and a battery powered radio.

My dad was at the world series at the time. He said shit was crazy, some dude was up on one of the lights and that shit was shaking.

I have no idea how long this lasted...maybe 10-15 seconds...but it felt like it was longer.

The school in that town (Wells) is closed down for now, with the kids displaced, and the gym will be condemned. I played league games vs. them when I was in school, too. That gym was built in 1954, and trust me, it wasn't built for nothing like that.

I was at the World Series also in '89. I was 5. I was in the upper deck. It was crazy. The lower level would shake, then nothing, then the upper level would shake, then lower then upper. The lower level got it worse. That shit was the craziest thing I have ever been a part of, and hopefully I never experience anything like that again.
