anywhere outside your hometown/homestate. we cant give u any paticular locations bc it dont mean they gonna feel your shit. You gotta just grind and push and market yourself in a unique or slick way you will findout who and where is feeling your shit the most. goodluck

Good question. Behind all the whos featuring on whos next release (and the feature rates that come with that), the videos, the cameos in peoples videos, the so and so is now fuckin' with this well known artist, the guess what Im performing with so and so...so, the forum sites where people catch replies from the same ten people, but are those who are replying buying the cd?, the magazine ads, the jewelry, the homies cars in these videos, the paid for youtube and myspace hits, the bought myspace friends, the hyped up email blasts etc, etc....you know everything behind the appearence that cds are sellin, whos really sellin (being that people only want you to see what they want you to see)? Are these marketing strategies really working, or are 9 to 5 job paychecks or and street grinding fitting the bills to keep up the illusion that sells are really feeding their egos media consistancy? Where are the soundscan reports? INthe street sales aspect, where arethe pictures of people holding up money with you while holding your cd...wheres the proof? But in the end as long as MCs are enjoying what they are doing, thats all that matters in my book.

lol...I mean whose sellin 50 units in one week?

AND ALSO IS MESSY MARV'S 50 DOLLAR COLLECTION OF ALL HIS CD'S GONNA COUNT FOR INTIVIDUAL SALES?

AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE BUY 18 OF 19 SONGS OF AN ALBUMON ITUNES CUZ THEY DIDNT PAY FOR THE INTRO, DOES THAT COUNT AS A SALE?

Messy Marv's new album will count as "1" sale.

If someone skips 1 song on your album on iTunes while downloading you don't get an whole album sale counted, but you will get credited as each one of those songs as a single sale towards the Online Digital Charts (via billboard).

Hope that information helps.

at the present moment i don't think it would be fair to base an artist's success off of album sales alone due to the changes that have occurred within the music industry. besides focusing primarily on album sales we should consider how much money the artist is generating in general. we should consider every album he pushes in the streets and at his shows that doesn't get a sound scan for, every dollar he makes off his shows and features, sponsorships, itunes, etc. in addition to that we should also consider what he is using his fame to do out side of music. is he using his fame to get into movies, are people buying anything that is affiliated with him due to his popularity like clothes from his clothing line, etc. cds simply don't sale like they use to because people could steal it now but that doesn't mean innovative rappers ain't eating.

edit: for example look at mess and his superstar bundle lol! you telling me that dood aint eating?
Jewelry you right about everything. As a independent artist you have start looking beyond CD sales. Every artist who has a CD out now knows if you waitin for CD sale money, YOU WILL STARVE! WE Bay Area artist can't be thinking like it's the 90's and expect to do large numbers of units, that concept is flawed and VERY dated. I remember when C-Bo sold 200,000 units in one week going through City Hall Records with the "Tales From The Crypt" album. He charted at No# 4. on the album chart and I believe top 20 on the pop chart. That ain't happening now with ANYBODY. I know the money was sweet back then, but now you gotta get the slow nickel and have patience. 1995 was 15 YEARS AGO!!!!

The difference to me is the 10,000 people that would buy the cd back then are now rapping and trying to sell their own...I was sellin 80 copies 6 days a week with 3 people in 1998-2000, I moved out my moms house off 4,000 cassette sales in 3 month time period with money to furnish my place and but 1000 cds, etc etc. There were more consumers then. Now theres more people trying to sell you their cd so what I get most is "well Im rapping too," when I ask "would you like to buy a copy," rather then ok.

Jewelry your right though between me promoting shows, graphics, cd sales etc etc, "collectively" I make money.
