selling out is a matter of opinion, its usually used when either A) an underground rapper gets popular or B) a rapper you used to like makes songs you don't like anymore. I mean there are those that intentionally sell out to make money like mic geronimo (although I doubt most of heard of him)

Not if you ask DJ Quik. LOL Sorry, old beef. It's just funny to think about MC Eiht not selling out when he doesn't even sell records well.

being a bad, local, underground rapper wit no chance of ever being famous does not equal not selling out. almost every1 named would sell out 2 b rich if they had a chance. being broke duznt equal keeping it real, it means u suck.

i think 40 has sum sellout songs now, but dude kept it hecka real 4 a long ass time & he duznt 4get bout his real fans & includes sum classic joints on every disc 4 cats like me who been down since day 1. his commercial success is just a brilliant move by a seasoned rap vet & he still the best rapper. no1s stayed hot & relevant 4 as long as 40. he has nuttin left 2 prove 2 me, hes the only rapper in a dead region makin moves & has been for 20 years, so haters keep bumpin yer favorite local artist & takin shots at 40 & missin out on the greatest rapper ever & only legend from yer region. dousche bags!

it's a double edge'd sword either you stay in the hood and make music for ppl locally and stay broke or you sign with a major and get your paper and make some radio friendly songs....now if i was a rapper best belive id sign a deal and make whatever the fuck kind songs they want me to so me and my family can eat and live comfortably....

who the fuck really wouldn't sign a major deal and instead chose to stay local and broke shit just dont make sense to me but as a fan sometimes i dont want some of my fav. artist to sign with majors cuz i know its gonn fuck with they music even tho i would like to see them get they money but they wont be making the same music as they would while they are underground....shit is complicated and i just kill'd my 40oz time to get some more...

I remember when he dropped that line at a concert. You couldn't hear anything he said for damn near a minute after he said it. People went fucking bananas after that line.

are you stupid? your saying souljah boi is better than atmosphere, canibus, aesop rock, immortal technique, x raided, lynch, etc.....? cause he damn sure gets payed more than all these acts, being broke = a number of possibilities. i know cats here in town that will never get payed, but theyll blow your mind if you take the time to listen to them
