That's a tough one to ask in 2007 because a lot of music (regardless of region) sounds a lot alike. Certain producers have their own sound but it isn't necessarly region defining anymore.
yeah thats a tough one since alot of mainstream rappers use mainstream producers like Pharell, Timberland, Scott Storch etc and their shit doesn't have a regional flavor to it just sounds commercial
For Example, my favorite bay area producer is Rob Lo but his shit doesn't really sound like traditional bay area rap production for the most part, sounds like some east coast shit but its dope and it fits in well with the rappers he produces
I think he means Bosko from Portland. He has produced numerous Bay Area acts including E-40 and Spice 1. E-40 presented his album last year. He also sings.

its funny but livin in sac my whole life, i never heard much of the mob shit. when i was youngin hittin every emcee battle heads would come up to me and always be on the "aye yo son i got the new wu joint" or " heiro doin another show in sac". since i was always breakin also in shit of the heads would always be on more of the hip hop shit instead of the mob unless it was brotha lynch. but thanks for the info oct ill peep
I agree Peete. The sounds aren't really as distinctive as they were in the 90's. But my question is more along the lines of...
When you think of a West Coast song...which producer's sound pops into your head first...?
And when you think of an East Coast song...which producer's sound pops into your head first...?
Etc...
Me personally...just like on some first instinct shit...would be:
West:
DJ Quik
East:
DJ Premier
South:
DJ Toomp/Mannie Fresh
Midwest:
This one is the toughest for me, because I really can't even pinpoint the sound that could really define that region...but I would have to go with Traxter.
