I think if Hill fucks up real bad during the Houston game, I think Alex is going to start seeing some playing time and we all know how Alex Smith is. So when do you think were going to see Nate Davis play? I really want this kid to get some snaps. He seems like he has everything set to be a real dope QB in this league. I even think he was one of the underrated QBs in the draft. If he didnt have that lil learning disability, I think he would gotten drafted in the 2nd. what yall think?

He looks promising, I have high hopes for him too. Remember though he was ballin against some scrubs in preseason. He reminds me of big ben for some reason.

I'd still like the 9ers to draft a qb if a good one falls in their lap

me too. Here's some interesting stuff I heard on KNBR awhile back when people we're calling in asking for Nate Davis to start.

Davis’ head coach at Ball State was Brady Hoke (he recruited Brady) and Stan Parrish, Davis’ offensive coordinator directly coached Brady. So what do they have to say about Davis‘ future? Journalist Jason Whitlock, who once said Davis “looks like the second coming of Brett Favre” claims Parrish and Hoke said Davis has the tools to be better than Tom Brady. That’s worth repeating because nobody knows Davis’s football talent better than these two men who also coached Brady. They feel Nate Davis has the tools to be BETTER than Tom Brady. I don’t know about that, but for a 5th round pick on a team searching for a franchise quarterback since the Steve Young era, 49er fans will settle for the second coming of Ben Roethlisberger.

not anytime soon i would say.

Dude is young and needs to learn on the sidelines right now...he was good in preseason but that was mostly againts 2nd and 3rd string defense...and even if he played against a starting D, it was still the preseason...

I would say Alex Smith gets a chance before Davis if Hill really starts to struggle...If for some reason later in the season it looks like we are not going to the playoffs, I think we should put Davis in and let him learn and get some quality nfl reps going into next season....for one we can know what we have in him and determine whether we should get another QB in the first round in the next years draft...

He's got a lot of natural talent, that's for sure. He's got pocket presence, strong arm, scrambling ability.

he seemed confident in preseason, got in there and grabbed the bull by the horns. only thing is he will be waiting in line behind hill and smith..

hill isnt the type of qb to bring a team from behind, the niners O is not designed to score quick points as long as the game is close and the niners aint trailing big then yall should be o.k. the main thing i see wrong with the niners is the line other than that it was just one bad loss no need to be impatient

I think if Hill struggles, which has only happened in ONE game so far, we'd be better off with Nate Davis than Alex Smith. I know he's a rookie and blah blah blah. I understand we've only seen him in preseason. I also understand that he shows good poise, pocket presence, arm strength and accuracy, none of which can be faked no matter what caliber opponents he's faced. He's shown good decision-making ability as well, which also doesn't rely on how good or bad the other team's defense is. These are things that Alex Smith lacks and it doesn't make any difference who he was playing when he showed them. Of course, receivers won't get open as easily as they did in the preseason and he'll probably have even more of a pass rushing to deal with, but he's still gonna have his accuracy, decision-making, poise and arm strength.

People are quick to think a rookie QB is doomed to fail because of what happened with Alex Smith. Nate Davis is not Alex Smith.

Nate Davis is the best Quarterback that the 49ers have on ther team right now. I hope next year that Alex Smith is cut, so Nate could be the 2nd string Quarterback if he isnt ready to start next year.

With that being said, I think there's a 99% chance that he doesnt play this year at all.

Picking a QB if he isnt the "one" is such a fucking waste of a pick, the year we had alex smith, we could have traded his pick away for 2 first rounders, and still got rodgers.
