When and why did Jive sign 40

I personally think 40 been weak (or just not the style I like) since he stopped fuckin with the click a lot (back in mid 90s) The only songs of his I can listen to are if they feature other rappers. So im wonderin why jive decided to sign him. Did he outsell everybody in the bay or is it cuz he more radio friendly.

40 was selling out everyone on an independent level. 40 and the Click were one of the groups that brought the major labels into the Bay. 40, Short(of course), JT The Bigga Figga and RBL just to name a few. Jive messed up and didn't keep grinding for 40. 40 did drop some classic shit on Jive though, thats a fact!

40 was signed to Jive when In a Major Way and Hall of Game came out. It was for a couple of reasons, probably...1)He's was and still is dope and 2)They pushed 200,000+ units out of the trunk. 40 wasn't the only one on Jive. Sic Wid It was Sic Wid It/Jive. It was an Independent label distributed by Jive. B Legits Hemp Museum and the Click's 2nd album were on Jive as well. For the record, it didn;t have shit to do with Pac either. Pac wasn't even that Big yet when 40 got the Sic Wid It got the Jive Deal.

Basically the arguement that 40 got weak after he stopped fuckin wit Click and tying it into when he signed wit Jive, doesn't..."jive." Like I said, the whole label was on Jive.
