to me a rapper is someone who makes you listen to a song for what they are saying not just cause its a good beat. no matter how good or bad the beat is they can catch it and make that shit sound tight. the beat should just be an added bonus to some clean ass lyrics. when you hear a good rapper over a weak beat you still want to listen cause he is sayin some slick shit. thats just my opinion.

well said. but a rapper who rhymes and puts it on wax. an emcee however is what you just explained. i mean you can be a rapper and suck completely but thats what you do is rap example 50 cent.

TO ME...a rapper is someone who applies lyrics to a beat n records it/performs it


but a MC is someone who can rap n spit shit dat makes u hit dat rewind button n makes you realize why u fell in love wit hip hop in da 1st place. not alot of MC's in America's mainstream as of now but you can find them anywhere in da underground/street music.
