You guys have it all wrong i've been in this music business for so long that, HIP-HOP is a word to EXPLAIN RAP MUSIC in a POLITICAL way, Thats why when you walk into a record store usually it says HIP-HOP, but most say HIP-HOP/RAP.
It's when a "RAPPER" goes somewhere and says like "what are you", "whats your occupation" and you reply "i'm a artist"/"singer" and then they ask "what kind of singer" Some might say a "RAPPER" but the political way of saying it is "im a HIP-HOP ARTIST".
Does anyone see what i'm getting here?
Or another thing when the WEST COAST was dominating the "HIP-HOP"scene in the early to mid-nineties the medis had no way of lableing this kind of music! to them it was totally diffrent shocking to say the least. How we where glorifying VIOLENCE,DRUGS,WOMEN they where sayin this is not HIP-HOP, this is GANGSTA RAP!
What i'm tryin to say is that HIP-HOP was labled just to POLITICIES THE WORD RAP!
It is very hard for me to explain but i tried my best hopefully someone who knows and his been in this game for along time can explain it a little bit better, PEACE
