HANDS DOWN, E 40 putting out an album with Lil Jon....say what you want, if it didn't happen there would not have been a MtV My Block, BET coverage, videos on MtV, and everything else that happened last year. I know that 40 was the not even close to the person that represents what people in the bay think of as hyphy, but it took an established artist that people already knew of to get the little attention that the bay did.....but the smartest moves by people made in the bay, i would have to say Ya Boy and Clyde goin to Black Wall because they did the smartest thing that any Bay artist could have done.........LEAVE THE BAY TO BETTER THEIR CAREER!!!

rick rock production changed the game! the minute he did the roc la familia shitwith jay z, i knew he would be a force and the first millenium super producer for the bay. e a ski followed suit on a regional level and sean t been killin it sinse cant remember when on an underground level. i think real producers control the bay area scene. e 40 been e 40 sinse what the late 80's early 90's. so all his newest shit is basicly build up on his legacy. too short is way o.g. and has cemented his spot as well. i think we need to embrace the leaders, play our positions, wait our individual turns (which will come if its meant to be) and stay ready so you aint got to get ready.

we have so many independent labels and record cos its hard to be on the top ranks when competing with big music corporations

i keep saying people from the bay need to venture outside the box for national exposure on some real shit

not on some trendy hyphy bullshit

we really need to put time and work into music instead of releasing shit out hella quick for a dollar or 2 ya dig

plus no one is automatically going to sign a deal unless they been in the game or are new and hyped up, most people that are a hype usually end up fading away because they are a hype.

people that stick in the game that don't pay attention to anyone else that make their own creative music will outshine anyone on the go dumb hyphy music bandwagon

that shit doesn't sell that well

The smartest move made for Bay music was when the radio started playing local artist again. The Federation, Mac Dre, keak, Quinn, The Team and many others getting played reenergized the Bay music scene.

Too bad most radio heads don't realize that by playing local artist they fuel the market, which means more money for everyone, including them.
