yeah so that bitches like you could download his shit right? Justify your point...Let's see what kind of square ass response u can come up with....REGARDLESS of whether he had "investments" or not (I mean, since yer from the streets I know u know plenty of "street niggas" that have CDs and money market accounts) it still doesn't make it "alright" for u to steal his music....If you have better things to spend yer money on then do it...Just don't rip off local artists

But youre also takin scratch out the artists pockets...thats why its so frowned upon...

Not at all, especially if he keeping it for himself to bump. You can buy one copy from the store and take scratch out someone pocket by burning that one disc 1000 times.

Just let him live his life and get off his back for DL a album.

Its time to be real. Niggas was on here talking about DL Big L's albums. What makes Mac Dre so different from 2PAC, ODB, BIG PUN, EAZY E, NOTORIOUS B.I.G, Aaliyah, DJ Screw, that you can't DL his album?

Who said it was okay to download ANY album...Point blank tho, this IS a message board filled with cats who press their own CDs either out of their own pockets or thru a mom n pop distributor....OF COURSE they take president over major acts like Ludacris or T.I. ....atleast here they do....But we don't condone ANY bootlegging period.

Plus y'all ain't in the Bay so I don't expect you to take it as to heart as we do....But atleast respect it!

You're an idiot, when will people stop comparing MAJOR artists to INDEPENDENT artists.....*sigh*. Lemme explain this to u, bootleggin a major artist's album will hurt their sales but not by much they'll still sell enough to make their 100's of thousands of dollars, and bootleggin an indie artist's album will hurt their sales no matter if it's just one album. Since they sell only several thousand....get it??? Good Boy.
.

Not always it all depends on the Contract the artist signed..Nowdays alot of artist get a Lump sum of cash upfront to do a album before it drops and don't profit off sells when it release.

^Give me a break homie, what your saying is pointless I don't want to get into a discussion with you because I'll probably write a book of explanations. You're an artist right? So would it be cool for people to pirate your album?

True...but if 1000 people DL'd albums for themselves...its the same thing...point is...when you DL or burn and copy...the artist dont get paid...it may not be a big deal for Em...but for your local up and comin...its a huge deal...

i DL too...but if i like it...i buy it...

i dont gotta justify shit, i never said Dling music was OK,or that it was ALRIGHT to do, i just said that i cant be spending hella dough on stupid ass Cd's with only 2 good songs on them (dreganomics), ide rather Dl the songs online and save the songs i like to a mix, obviously its not the correct thing to do, but you gotta do what ever the fuck you gotta do, and music isnt my life, i got other shit on my mind besides music, and if i can get it for free why not? one less thing to worry about, and one less thing to spend money on, might not be the right thing to do, but who gives a fuck? i already do hella bad shit to society, and the economy anyways...and ill stop ripping off artist when they stop ripping people off with a 15 dollar Cd with only 2 good songs on it.....until then ill keep Dl what ever the fuck i want....

Underground rappers barely make shit compared to some fake, weak ass nigga on TV or on the radio. TV and radio is enough to support those mainstream niggaz, but underground rappers have to depend on listeners, and promotion to sell their shit. I know a nigga like T-Nutty probably don't have too many people who know about him. I'll buy his cd's cause I know that he's sicc as fuck, and I slump that shit loud to let everyone know who the fuck he is. That's the kind of shit these niggaz rely on to keep their fuckin careers.

If I like an artist, I'll buy their cd, cause I know that's the kind of shit I slump everywhere I go. I support buying underground shit cause I wanna hear more shit from them, and not be stuck with weak ass 50 snitch, Gay-Unit, Gay-Z, Bone Crusher garbage.

Some of you broke ass muthafuckas talk like fuckin' bums. If you like an underground artist, buy his fuckin music. You got enough scrill for a fuckin COMPUTER, and the internet, but your cheap ass can't even buy a cd? What, you saving up your mommas lunch money to buy that shit? Get a fuckin job ya beeeyiiittcch.

No we not gonna beef over this thread we both business men on a come up. Most of the No Limit acts from 1999-now signed a contract where they got lump sums upfront. Names like CHOPPA, GAMBINO FAMILY, thats why they left claiming P took they money. There was plenty more I forgot names at this second.

I can see where you coming from also It is a headache to put a product out especially grinding to make the funds to do it, I know from experience off the rip.. I'll be truthful I said it on past threads I'll support a struggling underground artist in a hurry. Yeah I DL sometime times majority mainstream albums just so I can see If I wanna buy it when it drops. I've been to the Bay and I must say Artist over there grinds a little harder on the indy music tip then alot. And I have lots of respect for that. Shit most Underground artist still works a 9 to 5 or still flip them bricks or do both. While a mainstream artist can get a Endorsement for clothing or a commercial or get in a movie or T.V. series to make more money.

Look, bottom line, the internet has changed the game. Thats it. Artists just gotta deal with that fact. I mean the hustle continues, on BOTH ends of the game. Musicians are mad cause the consumer is now hustlin thier hustle. How you gonna blame em? The game has been flipped, and those that adapt will succeed, just like in any other market.

I am not sure I really should join this conversation... I am not looking to be jumped on but straight up this is how I feel.

If I like an artist, chances are I will buy the album. I have over 500 albums now and only a couple of them are garbage. If I don't know an artist, and I find out about him on here or somewhere through word of mouth, I usually can't find any of his shit to download so I can't get to know him, If I can I will D/L it. I got some good tracks that way and have subsequently bought some good albums that way although I admit I don't always buy the album that the track comes from however the next album that artist drops is often purchased...

For me the best reason to download anything is when you find a track that you can no longer buy or can't seem to find anywhere like the 3 tracks from Mic C Candyland that I found or the Hoodfellaz track with Hustallah that I found. Of course there are those albums which have only 1 or 2 good tracks, usually compilations which are a avluable download. There are also those artists that you don't like that feature one of your favourite artist.

Really speaking for me downloading is a tool in a much larger toolbox than just the internet. Those people that only download tracks are probably not doing as much harm as you really think. I mean who really are these people. I will tell you who most of them are... They are the people that rarely ever purchase albums, those people that used to come over back in the days with a blank tape (nowadays I suppose it is a blank cd). I am sure the industry would be better off without the internet but most up-n-coming artists can use the internet to get there product out to people that would otherwise never be able to hear it. The real losers are the commercial artists which are all over kazza and other sites like it. There shit is easy to find and people all ready know what it is.

You might think that people who only download shit aren't doing much harm, but I know that there used to be about 4 or 5 major music stores in my town, but now, there's ONLY ONE. Sam Goody's in the mall, the two Wherehouses, and Mirabellies in the other mall are all closed down. As hard as it is to find underground cd's to buy, now there's only one place left in town (Tower Records) for me to buy Bay Area, Sac-Town shit. So I do think it effects the business to some extent, especially the underground rappers.

ok now. Mean Mugg its tired. Don't even wanna hear that shit. You speakin. Niggas gotta eat, i understand that, but like dude said....i would rather use my 15 dollars on some shit that would get my moneys worth like food, saving for a TV things like that, than a album that has 2 or 3 good songs.

And i understand this is a indie site, niggas pressin their shit and all that. But on the real, im supposed to WORRY BOUT THESE CATS, but i doubt if i dropped a album, they would be on some "im here for me dog, im here for me" type shit. Mother fuck that. And you are right, why DL shit? I don't...hardly download any bay area SHIT for that matter. Because there are a select few that are doin it, music that i enjoy, i support them. And dont start this "u a hater" shit, eat a dick and die, i dont give a fuck if you mad cuz i dont like your music. I listen to what applies to me. And most of this shit does not.

And furthermore, i will continue to download whatever the FUCK i feel like. I do not give a fat ass rats ass fuck about your family, just like you don't mine.

quit making it sound like im selling these nigga's albums n shit. and i cant dl a bay indie nigga's shit, what bout some E-40? can i listen to his shit on my computer without mean mugg and the 40 vagina's with him bitchin bout he needs to eat, when he eatin really good and has a bad ass house just signed to lil jon and he doin it? What about MC Hammer, that nigga did it big in the balloon pants, but he is bay area right?

Nigga please, i bet u mad cuz u can't download shit anyway on your compooper. Throw back 56k havin ass nigga. Kick rocks.

I aint beefin with yall bout it, i'm havin fun with it, see'n niggas gettin mad over this??? she-it

I don’t know but I AM having a difficult time justifying $15 on every CD I want to listen to. I’m sorry, that’s just the way it is. If I had a shit load of money, sure thing, but right now I need every penny I come across.

Would Mac Dre be pissed off if I downloaded some of his cuts? Or do you think he would understand being that I don’t got the money to spend? And at least I’m bumpin his shit ‘cuz if it wasn’t for the downloading I would NOT buy his shit in the first place.

So MeanMug and others, before you say “Mac Dre” this is “Mac Dre” that, think about the artist. Has Mac Dre ever publicly came out and said “Don’t download music?” Have you personally chopped it up with him and did he express his opinions on file sharing? I know of MANY artists who encourage file sharing. Shits gay how people assume how people think. It’s like how fools always assume what Pac would do.

And furthermore, i will continue to download whatever the FUCK i feel like. I do not give a fat ass rats ass fuck about your family, just like you don't mine.
