Shit, what yall think? One hot album, two, three, ten? Does it go beyond quality albums, sales, and fame? This should be a controversial subject. So many so-called and self-claimed Bay Legends. Let it out.

Doing whatever the fuck YOU want to do on records instead of following trends or letting the record company or radio control your work. Like ICE-T once said, "the problem with Pop is that what's popular today will not be popular tommorow." PEACE!

I say consistency in quality and sales as well as respect for the artform and the music game.

Good examples:
RBL
Jay Tee
Spice 1
E-40
B-Legit
Richie Rich
Mac Mall
Mac Dre
San Quinn
D.U.
Cellski
Guce
Taydatay
JT The Bigga Figga (pre 2001)

I am sure there are more but that is all I could think of for now.

Even if you feel some of these artists fell off they made their mark and impact with several good albums that also sold well.

Ant Banks is definately a legend. He is almost always left out when people discuss great producers, yet he's had more platinum albums than any other bay area producer I can think of off the top of my head.

I know I'm simplifing the issue, but what makes you a legend is the FANS. You have to have a strong, consistent following. If less than 50,000 people have one of your records, you're not a legend. You may be puttin in work, but you definately don't have legend status. When fans are willing to buy anything that has your name on it, year after year, then you're a legend.

I agree with the "FriscoLegend". Alot of OUR Legends now did something that had not been done at the time, ex. $hort, 40...They both have strong followings and moved units. Like all good things they come to an end. Take the latest releases by $hort, they just average but not Classic like his 1st 10. BUT, people will buy just about anything with his name on it, I do. I can see a few artist working their way to that status now, ex. Yuk. At some point he gonna reach LEGENDARY STATUS. Right now he is very impressive in guest appearances and solo projects. Quinn, same thing. We have some heavy hitterz right now but ALOT of cats that need to find a new career. Thats my opinion.

Then their are Legendary Producers...Banks, Khayree...They both have multiple hits and continue to do so so ad them to the List of Legends.

I didnt read all these.. But to become a bay area legend you jus' need to slaing da real.. Example 2Pac.. He was real.. From Digital UnderGround to DeathRow.. Even tho he was not born in Cali he repped it.. 'n if he wasnt dead there'd be alot more "bay area" legends. Think bout it.

an album with perfect production and honest raps...

Nas-Illmatic
Scarface-The Diary(it could have been his debut and only album and made him a legend)

Perfect production. That's hard to have nowadays since it changes as time flies. Would you say perfect production for its time.

It takes you makin muthafuccaz stand up and notice you.. you can become alegend in one album.. it just depends on how you do it... there are a few cats now that just hit the market and they got full potential in MY book... but to maintain that respect is the hardest part.. you cant do another album and completely fall the fucc off... J-dubb is CLASSIC shyt.. ask any cat that got the first album.. you can pop in J-dubb and it'll take you to way back when
