True, I would have to chose math too mathmatics is equal in every language and for kids nowadays I would have to say gym aswell because I really can't stand seeing so many fat kids at such a young age now a days

but you cant go much deeper into math than that without basic reading/writing skills...reading/writing is the obvious answer, followed by science imo

Hmmm...but without basic READING and WRITING skills...you may find it hard to do much, but thats just me.
Have in mind I haven't been raised in a USA school system...

For me reading and writing are not things you're supposed to learn in school, these are just too basic skills. I am actually amazed that you have these as separate subjects, if I understood right...

I'm not sure one is more important than another. The main thing to get out of school is to develop a sound thought process. The culmination of all of the subjects (not just the subjects themselves, but the overall educational experience) is what develops your thought process.

Math is universal its the same everywhere, reading and writing makes us understand more quickly. I love to learn about history though, and we've gotten alot of medicine from science obviously. I'd say math and science or reading and writing, we all know gym doesn't even belong up there.

^That's why

Choosing history as well because how would we know how we became? I know current history classes don't give the full story, it's almost one sided. Pending on how good the teacher is he/she will get the class to understand both sides of the story. It's important to know how to read in order to comprehend and compose the proper grammar and syntax to use in a conversation or speech. History is important so we never forget what helped us get here today.

math and science.

everyone can read and write and all you need is a dictionary and books which are free at the library, but the US is getting destroyed in terms of how many scientists we graduate. math and science need to be taught in a way that is engaging towards the youth, instead of looked at as a hassle, so maybe some of these kids will go on to get degrees in these fields. its like this, if you have a shitty writing/reading teacher, you will still be able to read and write with practice because it is required at every level. if you have a shitty math /science teacher and you only have a few science classes from k-12, then you are at a serious disadvantage. reading/writing does not teach reason and logic, while it is fundamental in math and science. so via math/science, reason and rational thought is what the kids should be picking up.
agree with every single word :)
