it's hard to sell records these days. for ya boy to come out and sell ten thousand records is tough. much love to him and done deal for putting the faith in a new artist. you have to build fans in order to keep fans. they're doing a good job.

this is my first post but i've been watching for a while. watch out for new releases from the mob figaz. robLo movement union coming november 8th.

man u guys should've seen the numbers from last week, especially the first week numbers.... there's sooo many artists now fans don't even know wtf to do anymore!!

kurupt sold like 15k first week...... this is KURUPT we're talking bout!

ac: thats fine u didn't like "16's wit me" but if u see everyone on here saying its tight then why wouldn't u give it a listen??? lol whats the real reason. people in the bay don't stick together. in georgia, every rapper "lives" in ATL. they all rep it. out here u got people reppin sf, oak, vtown, rich, pitt, epa, fairfield, sj, etc etc. ALOT of people, especially on this board really narrow it down and don't support the bay but just their city or their turf. once again, thats one little problem but i see it all the time.

u would be surprised how artists can be watched closely after selling "just" 2k after 3 weeks.

This "if everyone says it tight" why don't you go scoop it is not a legitmate arguement. Whole world loves Fifty cent doesn't make me go buy his crap, don't think it applies to you either...no offense.

So where can i listen to the album or do i have the ok from you to go find a bootleg copy of it, cause i think it can be easily done.

oh yeah the real reason is i've gone Hollywood - the bay is never coming back! :cheeky:

Then the artist wouldn't be making any money. $12.98 shouldn't be ALOT of for 'bay area bosses' like ourselves, should it?
_+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Artists in general don't make money off indie releases anyways. Unless they own the whole shit. The South has more rap buyers per capita than any other region in the country. They support their own as well... The Bay will support a major release ie Jay Z, 50 Cent.. etc.. before they really and truly got behind their own. Keak is super hot right now and he should be movin shipments but the people aint ridin the wagon like they should.

First of all, doing signings at rasptins aint shit, only getting on 106 or 949 is good, but not good enough!

I'm talking about networking! Getting out there in other citys and promoting the name, the sound! Promote ya boy, get out there and show people what ya boy is! Because word of mouth only goes so far, that shit works if you have connects in different states and in high places! These days its all about who you know! You can be the hardest artist ot there, but with no ambition, no drive, an album don't mean shit! Like we've seen and will continue to see, anyone can drop and album. Now ya boy just proved he can do what everyone else has! This bay area rap shit is in it own category, and always will be!

what are you saying dude???

first I replied... cuz i thought you were "talking shit"

I guess you're trying to give advice....

I'm dissapointed in your arguement dude... the album is not your average "Bay record" (like the Jack Artist)

and to Done Deal... my homie W.G. ( now crossover VP at Atlantic) has heard of Ya Boy so keep doing what you do

repping that CDP back in the day when the Pink Palace was still standing

Hey whats wrong with your "average" bay record? The Jack artist knocked to me (Don't know why youre trying to put the man down, but do what you do) and that was far from an "average" bay record IMO. Not everyone is gonna agree and thats something we all can agree on.

How about this ya boy "advocates" - What are the consensus top 3 songs i'll go peep them.

hold up... the Jack Artist was (and still is) an all time classic (regardless of what coast you live on... and the most slept on record of the decade... ( guess I didn't make it clear)

the Jack Artist is more my type of record anyway (smooth, cuz I'm old... but Ya Boy has talent, plus he's from my neighborhood)

my 2cents... check tracks #8 #10 #11 on Ya boy's album

^^^^I agree to a degree

I think the record has potential though... Ya Boy tried to make Rookie of the Year have a "universal sound" and I think he succeded

Ya Boy just needs promotion, i know a whole lot of people that have never heard of him. and when i bring up "ya boy did that song "16's" that played on KMEL for a while" and usually the response is "who?" confused look on face. I say "Ya Boy is his name, not one of your folks" they reply "oh, i thought that was *insert name here*. what was his name again?"

I bought the album and honestly i didn't think it's not on common rotation on my iPod or cd player, it's aite, only listened to the whole cd about 3 times and that's it.

Kurupt only sold 15k because Death Row isnt supporting the album at all because Koch stepped in and pulled some bullshit censorship.

A few people are missing the point. It has come high time to stop marginalizing yourselves as artists saying Bay this Bay that. It's ok to rep your City but those people that don't know about your city are in the dark. Make your song topics able to reach a broader audience so you can move units in Japan, Australia, Germany and other international spots.

Yes you can go Gold in Texas and move 20 times more units than here in the Bay and make your bread back.

Advertising.

.............and be more responsible about who you do songs with. Some of these collabos are garbage.

I really liked listening to 16 Wit Me, it was great promotion and the sample was hard and went with the beat. I remember the big debate I had with Chuck when I commented on the cockiness of that song, it got pretty heated. It was all love though. In my opinion Chuck really believed in Done Deal artists fully.
