B/ Please check your e-mail. The b12@bayside...... one. I really need help on that one.

To everyone/Maybe we should all consolidate and work as a unit. Everyone pay a monthly due (All books would be public information) that is used towards the development and solicitations of new releases and labels on the grow.
Me, B and Rob have kicked around that idea for about 3 years now.
With these ideas and the know-how that we all have it could work. I'm ready to make a move and I feel that it's time. I've learned alot and think that with some more help from my colleagues we could spark the attention of major mags, radio labels and get what we want.
When these cats come to our state they would have to come to our coalition.
We could call it the Urban Label Coalition (just throwing that out there).
I just rambling...I'm afraid that we as a community are not ready for such an endeavor. I wish we were. I would move back to CA tonite!

I think the siccness should get involved. With people in every company shifting every day its hard to publish a mag or book with up to date info. I think these indies should open the books and publish info on local stores in artists regions in boards like this so artists can get the word out easier. I think every store should carry full promo areas, not these 1 X 1 boxes that get trashed each week, not to mention mixed up with club flyers and dance flyers. Online purchasing from indie stores would speed up replenishing units if shipping and handling was reduced...... Anyone remember when CmC was banging........I think the bayside or another distributor should fork over some dollaz on a new music channel + a Bay rap radio with a Gumbo mix CD release of the #1 hits for the month...........

I think everybody should stir this idea round......Local Artists, Dj's, clubls etc. should see this as an avenue to promote......

I would work this idea round the Bay.... Im sure some indie record exects have some extra time they could feed into a collabo project like this........Time is the key we got it, somebody should start shootin bay videos that get circulation again........It seems like the late 90's had a CMC that supported the RBL's PTS Quinn, JT, Mac Malls of the world. The next generation of artists should work this idea and push the underground back into the fans eyes and let them know why we rep the Bay and nowhere else......

The BET's 106's 94.9's and MTV's are corporate owned and will only listen to the largest dolla..........These are corporate puppets.

I FEEL YOU, I AINT SAYIN THE DEMAND AINT THEIR.... BUT BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF QUALITY GANGSTA ALBUMS, DUE TO ALL THE RECYCLIN, AND BOOTLEGGIN, AND DOWNLOADING GOIN ON, GANGSTA RAP DONT SELL WELL ANYMORE... YES ITS STILL WANTED.... BUT THE MARKET IS SO SATURATED WITH IT, EITHER FAKE SHIT, RECYCLED SHIT HAS GOT THE CONSUMER UNSURE OF WHAT TO BY OR REALLY SCARED TO WASTE THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY....
Recycling, bootlegging and downloading/mp3's have nothing to do with the quality of music. People trying to put out albums for as CHEAP as possible is the problem. There is NO REASON WHAT-SO-EVER to recycle ANYTHING. That shit is wack and that's that. Good music is good music whether you buy it, recycle it, bootleg it, download it, whatever.

Theres still a market for gangsta rap but it ain't big and that has nothing to do with consumers not knowing who is real and who isn't or any of that bullshit. Consumers don't really give a fuck if a gangsta rapper is 'real', only real gangstas do. Gangsta rap doesn't sell well anymore because it's played. Gang-banging is played. Nobody gives a fuck about your block, your homies, how hard you are, your pistols, bla bla bla. Cats have moved on from that shit. People these days are more into their hustles and having their money than they are having set fueds and block wars.

I don't buy gangsta rap because I've heard enough of it over the years. It's boring.

THEY RATHER BUY A NELLY ALBUM OR DMX, CUZZ THEY SHIT AINT RECYCLED, ITS GONNA BE A WELL PUT TOGETHER PROJECT... SOME CATS IS JUST SLAPPIN ALBUMS TOGETHER IN 2-3 WEEKS AND THROWIN THEM TO THEIR DISTRIBUTOR, PRESSIN UP 10,000 FLYERS AND CALLIN IT A DAY.... AND THEY SELL 2-5K UNITS, AND THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THAT....
You're right. People buy Nelly and DMX albums because their shit is done right. They don't make albums with favors. You would have to be a mutha fuckin idiot to think you are going to sell a million units and the thing its gonna cost you is trading favors with people. Thats a joke! Putting out albums is way too easy and theres REALLY way too many people doing it who are cool with selling a few thousand units.

Somewhere down the line, all these ....people.... forgot that they actually have to EARN peoples money. Convince me that my $15 is worth owning a legitimate copy of your album. Convince me that you went in, made sacrafices and put your blood sweat & tears into the shit. If they can't do that then I don't want to hear nobody crying when their shit flops.

BTW, I only read a couple posts in this thread so sorry to getting off-topic (if I am).

What do I expect from distributors? I see a lot of artists who think all they have to do is lay down vocals and their job is over. I see a lot of record labels who think all they have to do is pay for that and their job is over. It's up to the record label and the artists to create the demand. It's up to the distributor to provide the supply.

Good shit to the ones on here that gave the real!!! This game aint easy! But depending on what kind of deal u got wit yo dist comp., it may factor on what u can expect from them... Also it is real important to have all the record stores up on your name, like Wax said, thats so real!! So what I need from all yall if possible, call all the stores in your area and ask for the new King Czar cd "Mentally Strapped Verbally Heated" and if they say they dont got it or whatever, just let them know u heard its out or about to come out and that they should try to get it cause its knoccin like police at yo door at 6 in da mornin!!! Gone..

Was aint wrong, gangsta shit IS NOT dead, its just taking a backseat to the commercial shit. As I said before, everything I make is grimey and will continue to be, however we just have to recognize what type of marketplace we are in and continue to adapt. Selling out the trunk and creating a buzz in the streets is the first way.
