I get it Von and Fab have a personal "BEEF", but FAB is the one winning with the publicity and sympathy he recieves for not getting spinns on KMEL. Well when you think about FAB having a radio show on 94.9 and the program director of 94.9 (and the final word in what KMEL does) is FAB's manager's brother Jim Archer and the Ozone magazines West Coast phtographer is FAB's managers wife and he has one of the Bay's emerging magazines Stash is his fulltime publicity machine alloting him a weekly Blog and nemourous reviews, interviews, photo opps, ect....Basically Why do people feel like FAB is being cheated and robbed of something??? He has the most free publicy and non-earned conections in the Bay Area Music scence. I think FAB is a hustler with his music, I'm not trying to hate or take that from him, but come the fuck on he is NOT the sobb story of the Bay. If anybody it's vets like Quinn and Mess or even Keak whom people should feel sorry for and want to rally around for support. FAB has his inside connections, 2$hort, magazines, websites, ect. that give him more plug than ANYBODY other than E40 in the Bay. He is getting allot of exposure with this Snoop song and all of the spoils that come with that. FAB has been blessed with REAL connections that have enabled him to be heard in ways and places most artist in this country would die for, so again why the crocidile tears for FAB? I bet Jacka would trade his funky little 15-20 spinns a week on KMEL to have all of FAB's good graces. And the sad thing is that more than half of the people feel like that goofy yellow bus thing is a bad look for the Bay anyway. Fab is a great personality an OK rapper and a lucky fellow in the ways of being connected to the right people, in the right places...lets be happy for him....HE IS WINNING and it's not even his song, IT'S SNOOPS.
A Major Label aint gon Push your music if u aint gettin spins in your own region.

i remember when fab was everywhere tring to push niglatin and getting no burn. i went to seattle and fab was there dolo tryng to push his project. i went to oregon and guess who was there. by himself trying to put in work. it was nobody but him and gary. and to be honest people was trying to treat them like jokes, but they hung in there and stayed down with each other and kept grinding. they earned they position. gary and fab both worked hard and he the hottest in the bay. give that man them spins!!!

this has to be one of the better threads in this forum lately. good convo back and forth. good points. eventually kmel will have to submit. but there not gonna make or break mr. fabs career either way. hes earned every bit of his success. like it was already said, who doesnt make it without networking and connections? cant wait to hear the new single.

for the record, i do understand why von is holding a grudge. when fab chose to oppose von and scotty it turned personal opinion into personal rivalry. but sense fab isn't on the radio doing his show anymore, you would think that the 2 sides would have met up and talked and got passed the point of trouble.

at the end of the day, von holds the power and until he is happy, things may never change. my opinion is just that. and wont change shit. and i wouldnt be a friend if i didnt voice my opinion.

i try to deal with facts. and let the facts be the reason i type. when i am wrong i will except it and move forward. and if it aint my business i stay out of it.

i hope kmel comes around, and i hope fab continues on his path and makes a good name for himself.

i might be given the wrong information but according to some one i know that works for 94.9 (they share the same building as kmel and are both owned by clear channel) fab did lose his major deal cuz he lost spins at kmel.

I hope thats not true about Fab losing his deal with Atlantic because dude works so hard. While I don't see him as a street hustler, or a bad ass with a gun (like his new track with Cashis (Red Light)), you can't deny he's a grinder. He pushes real hard and you can't deny that his personality is infectious when you are around him.

you know the business. your solution to this problem is obviously the most logical. at the end of the day i think we all know the talent isnt the problem out-here in the bay area. its the right position, networking and support outside of and in our region. sometimes i know may come off as unsupportive but that is the furthest from the truth because i support this bay area movement to the fullest. cooler heads prevail in the end no doubt and i tip my hat off to the cats that can keep it pi 24-7. im working on that! as a region we need more managers, teams and direction for the artists with talent. a plan that gets executed. theres alot of individuals on this board with the insight and grown man game that can make a difference. the game and knowledge at times on this board is priceless for up and coming talent. hopefully the right people with the right mindsets cometogether to better a region that can handsdown change the game like the early to mid 90's. imo.

the first things that they ask you these days are, "do you get any spins in your region?" and "how many hits do you get on the web daily/weekly?"

Almost 99% of people with the power to sing artists will ask these two questions before anything else...then they'll check your soundscan numbers(with or without telling you) and see how many projects you've put out and why haven't you sold anything. When they see an artist that's sold in the hundreds on a lot of stuff, nothing is going to happen. That includes artist the "PRESENT" albums. They might not be directly a part of that project, but their name will be associated with the soundscan results.

So if Fab was to get dropped, I can see where the radio beef played into it. Also, his album that he just released didn't put up the numbers that a lot of people were expecting.

his album sold 17,000+ soundscan with no radio, and no video. i think it did real well for the state of bay rap.

other than that your post is pure truth. good post

.The fact that its almost a national hit and has 2 Oakland Rappers on it should be enuff for it to make KMEL but if Von still refuse to play it the masses gon start asking why.
Not to sound like a party crasher.

But what is this song gonna do for Oakland as a whole? NOT A DAMN THANG.

The world looks at it as a new song by Snoop Dogg featuring Too Short and some husky bald head guy(mistah fab).

But entertainment business has always and will always be about politics and relationships. if a relationship is ruined or brigdes are burned there will be issues

true...but where exactly is bay rap on the national radar right now? 17,000 in the bay is the same as 17,000 anywhere else. There's a lot of independent artists who aren't considered the "hottest" in their area that sell the same amount of records.
