^they are both coming off losses but this should be a great fight. is randy going to be able to use his dirty boxing and clinch or is nog going to be able to take him down and sub him.

between this fight and meia-marquardt im way more excited about this card than the last one.

Or.. Maybe they need to have a lot of cards in order to keep there roster making money because they have a big ass roster and if you only have 12 PPVs a year, not to many people will be getting work.

Usually, the boring fights are the upper card fighters and not the less known people.. The people you don't really know usually put on better fights because they're trying to get known..

Like St. Pierre/Alves was maybe the most boring fight on UFC 100, while the fight between Akiyama and Belcher may have been the best..

When I see boring fights, I think of a 1 dimension fighter that doesnt know much.

But at the same time, there's alot riding on the line and expecting alot of people to do a full onslaught is very unlikely to happen... especially the well established names. Its about being Cautious.

I think the biggest problem that UFC is gonna end of having is that there is a dominant fighter in each weight class and they are gonna clean out the divisions and it will make things boring.

I really dont know what Randy has left, he is really up there in age. Nogueira only wins if Couture doesnt have the stamina.

Couture Grateful for Nogueria Bout

videolink: http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Couture-Grateful-for-Nogueria-Bout-2046
Randy Couture's heavyweight bout against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was supposed to take place 18 months ago, and the six-time UFC champion said he's glad it came back around.

Couture, who turned 46 years old two months ago, dissects his UFC 102 tilt with the Brazilian legend on Aug. 29 in Portland, Ore., and shares what he really learned from Nogueira's night to forget against Frank Mir at UFC 92 last December.

MINOTAURO NOGUEIRA IS STILL IN THE GAME

Critics say Nogueira has fought too many wars and should start his ride into the sunset. Long regarded as one of the best heavyweights in the business, he was known for his ability to take punishment and come back. But questions about the punishment’s effect on his long-term viability have lingered.

In stark contrast to an interview he gave last month where he said the Mir loss delayed retirement, he said the Couture fight was not the first step on the last climb up the ladder. In other words, he’s not quitting any time soon.

“Of course not,” said Nogueira. “I’m 33 years old and I have a lot to do in my career. At least, I’m going to fight a couple more years. I didn’t say I was going to retire if I get the title, or if I won against Frank Mir. I still feel my body wants to fight; I’m very competitive. I love the sport. The UFC is growing very much and I’m happy to be a part of that, and for sure I want to have a couple more fights and show a lot of good skills for the fans.”

He’s made Los Angeles his home for the past three months, working MMA at Black House and sharpening his hands with boxing guru Freddie Roach. He brought in Greco Roman wrestlers to simulate Couture’s approach.

“We did a lot of cage work, a lot of everything I train for my fights, like boxing, a lot of Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu,” said Nogueira. “He’s a normal size, so I didn’t have anyone special for him. I have about three or four guys the same size as him.”

He says he’s in the best shape since his peak years in Pride. And against Couture, a conditioning machine, he’s counting on his hard work to keep him fresh in later rounds.

“I know the endurance part is a very important part of his game, so I worked very hard on mine to face (Couture),” he said. “I think both fighters are gonna be in good shape.”

An in-shape Nogueira, he says, is the one fans have been waiting to see.

“I have three fights in the UFC,” said Nogueira. “I (haven’t) shown my best performance yet. I still have a lot to show. That’s why I’ve been training so hard. I want to show the best of my performance. That’s why I’m still in the game.”

You must be one of those new booty ass MMA fans who don't know the difference between a has-been and a legend !
Actually i was one of the only ones that was watchin before it was on spike tv..It's like watchin ken shamrock and tank abot fight...both legends and had good runs but would you actually pay $50 to watch these guys fight again?? Randy proly pushin 50 and nogueira's career ended wit pride...don't get me wrong both legends but i would had rather seen this fight 6 years ago, today i could give a fuck less..
