As Chaos Prevails
In the novel “Lord of The Flies” written in 1954, an airplane is boarded by a young motley group of English boys crashes upon a deserted island. The boys who all survive assemble together and choose one of the two oldest to be leader, which is Ralph. The other older boy is Jack, who finds it difficult to accept Ralph’s leadership over them all so Jack is appointed to be in charge of hunting.
Jack is a head of his choir so he directs his fellow choir boys to hunt with him. In result of this they experience their first act of savagery upon the island when slaughtering a pig. Though it was by means of survival, they are intrigued of lust for blood rather than fulfilling their need to eat. This gives Jack a sense of authority greater than Ralph’s because he has the nerve to take an innocent life, whereas of Ralph’s attempt to kill a pig fails because he has not the heart to do it.
