whatever anyone likes what he sayin he pretty much right aboutthe bay at the moment minus his comments on women. I pretty much think that the bay area is over saturated with too many no talent trendy artist that drop too much garbage every couple months, and trying to jump on the hyphy bandwagin. Folks just need to put more effort into there albums(quality not quanity wise, im tired of 20 track cds with 2 ok songs, y'all feel me?), come up with a style of there own and go back to the roots of doing things out of the trunk and for the street, not for radio play - that shit comes after enough word of mouth, not right away, and once u do that stay on top of your game and dont let material water down.

it sounds the same....period, its just worded different and most beats have that lil jon feel to it, all this hyphy needs is some more creativity which its lacking, every song is involed with scrapers and going dumb

also same the with the videos, needs more creativity as well, people dont want to see the same routine in a video, luckily frontline stepped it up on their new video but then these thizz kids concentrate on how come its not thugish, give me a break

That's just one guy's opinion. If all the major labels felt like that then why is FAB signed, Federation, A'z, The Pack, etc.? Who ever you talked to I doubt that he's as big as the CEO of any of these labels.. And a lot of the songs have the same concepts but sound the same? Naw, he trippin. If he got a million demos that all say go dumb in the title I think he's getting non-Bay Area hyphy music. Prolly some seattle niggas makin hyphy shit. And why is hyphy the main topic of convo on here?
trust me fam.... dude aint small time. there is more to the game than getting signed. a lot of people get signed and shelved. not saying thats what is gonna happen to the cats you named. but lets wait and see if they actually release projects.....

keep in mind, the reason i posted this was not to co-sign dude, but to let other bay artists know what the industry view on our music is.... thats all. weather he is right or wrong, this is what people in positions of power think. and he isnt the only one who feels that way. sure, some bay artists have gotten singed but a lot of them get shelved and the execs split the advance money up.

The original post is pretty simple. I dunno how arguments started from that post. Just an un-biased opinion from some exec on the bay. If it was up to me, the bay can continue on it's Independent game and I'll be happy as hell. Anyone that thinks artists like J Diggs, Bavgate, and Keak is going to bring the bay back is straight trippin. I got all 3 latest albums sitting in my mp3 player, and it's coo, except the Bavgate. But none of those albums is even close to being nationally acceptable. All of their style is "Too Bay Area", which means it's has a sound that only regional fans will like. Let's bring back the mobb music, I'll back that up fo sho, BUT, will that type of music make it nationwide, HELL NO. Let's do some "out of the box" thinking and imagine what people from other areas think of the music. Up to now, my folkers in North Carolina don't give a damn about "NY Hip Hop" and the same goes to my NY dudes, hatin on Bay and South music any minute they get. Just look at history and check the people that have nationwide appeal with their respective sounds;

NorthEast: Diddy, BIG, Jay-Z
South: Lil Jon, Timbaland, Outkast
West: E-40, Short Dawg, Hammer (Didn't include Pac, many influences from different regions)

Out of all 9 of those people, they have distinct sounds that started out with their region, but somehow they found the formula for commercial appeal. People in the bay just need to come up with ways to make everyone at home happy while at the same time being attractive no non-bay area folks. The only artist(s) I know that looks like they can do that is "The Team" even though it does not look like it'll happen. Anyways, those are my two cents.

i felt almost all that he was saying except the part about appealing to females for sales... then right after going on to touch on quality.. cuz if you have to sugarcoat a song to make it appeal to females only then your going to lose quality in the process..
its all about the guac!! We sacrifice alot when it comes to making it!!!
