The big problem, like others have said, is that there's TOO MANY RAPPERS in the game compared to the early/mid-'90s'. For every, say, ten or twelve dope rappers (older and/or newer artists) making dope records, there are at least fifty more (a few old, but most of them new) that are either wack, or just kind of blah, style-wise. It's easier to get a hold of recording equipment to make CDs than it used to be; virtually everyone and his/her no-talent brother or sister can make their own record.

So a person may not have the desire to buy, say, the new CDs from proven dudes like Quinn, The Done Deal Fam, Messy Marv, 40 Ounce Records, Right Way Productions, Yukmouth, and whoever else--not because those artists don't still make dope CDs (they do, IMHO), but because the experience of being burned from listening to bullshit from other lesser artists that were just wack sours a lot of people's attitudes, and they give up on the Bay because of that. Put another way: if you buy twelve apples and the first ten that you eat all have worms in them, chances are that you're going to give up on that batch of apples, even though the eleventh and twelth apples might have been the good ones out of the dozen. Just my view, though.

PEACE!

Looks like someone has experienced "Tragic Losses" of brain matter. Every point you tried to make was grossly invalid.

(NICE TRY AT A WITTY COMEBACK...BUT YOU FLOPPED LIKE THE REST OF YOUR POST)

WTF? The south didnt blow up until a few years ago even cats/artist in the south will tell you that. And this is comin from someone who just spent four years in ATL. What the hell have you been payin attention to? Just because one artist blows doesn't meant the whole regions blew.

(MASTER P PUT THE SOUTH'S NAME ON THE MAP BIG TIME AND PAVED THE WAY FOR THE CASH MONEYS AND 3-6 MAFIAS TO MAKE IT BIG AND MADE THE SOUTH THE NEW HOT PLACE TO LOOK FOR TALENT,TAKING THE FOCUS OFF THE WEST)

Are you fuckin serious? Yuk and crooked i have a eastcoast flow? Lmao @ that bullshit. Ihis is a perfect example of people takin credit away from the westcoast right there. Game for example he's blowin up and now everybody wants to say its becuase he has a eastcoast flow. What the hell is that? Thats bs and evidence right there that the industry doesn't want the west to reign again.

(YUK CHANGED HIS FLOW SHORTLY AFTER HE WENT SOLO..ANYONE THAT DOESNT NOTICE THIS IS AN IDIOT..NOWADAYS HE SOUNDS TO ME LIKE ANY OTHER EAST COAST RAPPER FLOW-WISE)

Once again more bullshit. I've never in my life heard someone say Hyphy is the westcoast version of crunk. Its not even close to being anything like crunk. The only time someone might use them in the same sentence is to give someone a example they could relate to. Or when MTV.com put there own spin on it (which was more bullshit). Other than that nobody says that shit. we dont still shit out in the bay. In fact we the only region that doesn't have some sort of inluence from another region in our culture. We do it all the way Bay each and everyday. That same thing cant be said for other regions and this is comin from first hand experiences in other places.

(I HAVE HEARD MANY PEOPLE ON THIS SITE EVEN SAY HYPHY IS THE WEST COAST CRUNK..THE BAY DOES HAVE MAJOR INFLUENCES FROM OTHER COASTS RIGHT NOW...)

To sum it all up, your entitled to an opinion and nobody can change that. But you know what they say about opinions, they're like assholes, everybody has one and they're usually full of shit. Good Day.
(YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE I DESCRIBED IN ONE OF MY THER POSTS IN THIS THREAD...WEARING BLINDERS AND NOT SEEIN SHIT FOR WHAT IT IS...PEOPLE MAY NOT AGREE WITH ALL IVE SAID IN THIS THREAD BUT A LOT HAVE AGREED AT LEAST PARTIALLY..I KNOW IM ON POINT AT LEAST 99.3745% OF THE TIME....

I AGREE WITH YOU TO A POINT...THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE FLOODING THE MARKET...BUT THATS NOT A VALIS EXCUSE FOR WHY THE WEST IS IN LAST RIGHT NOW...THE EAST AND SOUTH HAVE JUST AS MANY WANNABEE STARTS FLOODING THE MARKET AND ARE STILL SUCCESSFUL..
1 THING I SEE FROM THIS SITE IS THAT PEOPLE HAVE SET THEIR STANDARDS REAL LOW AND ALBUMS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED WACK IF THEY CAME FROM ANYONE OR ANYWHERE ELSE ARE LABELED AS GREAT ALBUMS WHEN THEYRE NOT...THE WEST COASTERS WANT TO BE BIG AGAIN SO BAD THEY WILL BOOST SHIT UP TO ASTRONOMICAL LEVELS WHEN ITS CRAPPO OR AVERAGE...I USED TO BUY SOME WEST ALBUMS WHEN PEOPLE WOULD OVERALL SAY SOMETHING WAS SUPERTIGHT ON HERE...I GOT BURNED BY TOO MANY BAD ALBUMS LISTENING TO THE POSTERS OF THIS SITE.

THE SOUTH BLEW UP IN 95 WHEN THE WEST COASTS OWN MASTER P MOVED HERE AND MADE AN EMPIRE...BEING THE SMART BUSINESS MAN HE IS AND WITH LITTLE SUCCESS REALLY WHEN HE WAS OUT WEST...A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS CALL HIM A SELL OUT BEFORE HIS MUSIC WENT WACK BECAUSE HE MOVED AWAY AND MADE MUSIC FOR OTHERS...BUT DID P REALLY FORGET HIS ROOTS???NOT REALLY....ON MOST OF HIS EARLY RELEASES IN THE PROCESS OF BLOWING UP,HE SHOWED MUCH LOVE FOR THE WEST...HE BROUGHT A LOT OF ARTISTS NATIONWIDE WITH HIS RELEASES THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD OF...PEOPLE LIKE LYNCH,JT THE BIGGA FIGGA AND I GAND OF OTHERS I NEVER HEARD OF TIL P FEATURED THEM....
wrong. Two of Master Ps biggest albums before he signed a mainstream deal were West Coast Bad Boyz I and II. Those albums made Master P more than any of his solo CDs. How did he give love to his roots after he made it big? Not paying a lot of the people that did songs on those albums and never letting their talent see the light of day until his empire crumbled?

1.YOU ARE NOT BEING HELD DOWN BY THE EAST OR THE SOUTH...POINT BLANK......THE PIONEERS PUT IN HARD WORK AND GREAT MUSIC ANYONE COULD FEEL WITH A FRESH NEW SOUND UNHEARD AT THAT TIME...NO ONE IS DOING THIS NOW IN THE WEST THAT I HEARD IN YEARS...
wrong again. There are some serious politics going on around the TV/Radio corporations which are all entities owned by a handful of companies who have a narrow definition of what can or cant be played; this definition also 'coincidentally' gives a lot of big breaks and deals to artists in empires already makin a shitload of bread as opposed to local independents. And I dont think people think we are being held down by the Eastern and Southern hip hop communities, its all about game recognize game and if the East and the South dont want to give credit were credit is due it makes it impossible to expand your audience doesnt it?

2.YOU GUYS KEEP WAITING FOR OTHERS TO BRING THE WEST BACK BUT YALL ARE WAITING ON THE WRONG PEOPLE...I KEEP SEEING YUKMOUTH,SAN QUINN,E40 AND A GANG OF OTHERS MENTIONED ON WHO WILL BRING THE BAY BACK...YOU GUYS PUT YOUR HOPES OF SUCCESS IN PEOPLE THAT ARE HAS BEENS,NEVER WAS'S,AND NEVER WILL BE'S...
wrong a third time. San Quinn is only 24 or 25 years old, his last album was hard and is gettin distribution, 40 just signed with Lil John, thats huge. What about Frontline, The Team, Malice, and other newbies just breakin ground on their careers? The bay aint revolving around anyone older than dirt...Even 40 who is 35 or 36 still got talent.

wrong. So let me get this straight: its the fault of Bay Area rappers that they didnt make a song about a slang word they created? WTF would be the point of making a song everytime someone made a slang word? If that happen each artist would have a half dozen songs about Mustard and Mayonaisse or Hyphy or less successful ones like the Thizzle Wizzle. A slang word needs to marinate in the community for a while, its tweaked and adjusted to fit what it really means. You dont ever hear someone creatin a slang word and then defining it on the spot on a song he made for the radio lol common.

fact of the matter is the independant game ain't as crackin as it was in the 90s and never will it ever be that way again no matter how good the music is. fact of the matter is the independants can't compete with the majors money no more cuz the downloading is fuckin killing their record sales

By saying "fell off",I got to believe your referring to "albums sold".None of us big kids give a fuck about that.Your 29 homie...I'd guess you don't give a fuck who's on TRL.As long as I got my underground classics(great records period!)I'll keep listening to A-Wax,Killa Tay,T-Nutty,Syko,Smigg and others.I don't need to see Lynch go platinum to feel good about the geographical region I live in.You can have Source covers.

No blinders here my friend I just simply pointed out all the bullshit in your post. Everyone knows there are things the Bay needs to work on thats a given. But you failed to point out anything that was valid so I had to shed some light on the situation.
