Bay Area Culture is commonly overlooked but often exploited by Local radio and outside regional forces. Local radio will give excuses stating that the prevalence of guns, crime, scrapers and Hypfy'ism is the direct cause of rappers stagnating themselves. I often hear that today's Bay rapper isn't developed or haven’t produced anything worthy of outside listeners so the Machine and the Sheep’s foolishly supports the same formula from outside Regions as if it were something new.

Well my friends don’t fret! I've come to the conclusion that our music is missing 1 Element... Fresher sounds coming from an old school perspective. We gotta step our Sound G.A.M.E up folks. The Bay needs more Fiddles and Banjos in our music. Of course we got the Snare Drums on lock! But imagine Sean T producing or Keak flowin over the sounds of the Wooden Recorder. If the Machine and the Sheep’s don’t respect game and if the other Regions continue to exploit our sound then we gotta take our production to the next basic element... by taking twigs and beating pots and Pyrex jars with rhythm. If we don’t get our Respect and the biting continues, fuck it!! We'll just hit the Studio & start humming and grunting on records.

So remember kids, you don’t have to break major bread on Pro-Tools when you can hit any Goodwill and cop a Piccolo at a reasonable price. See you at the top of the charts,

but even tho i aint a fan of all the new "hyphy" music bein put out

its not even really the music man

cuz 1 mans trash is the next mans treasure

the bay dont handle business correctly and ima leave it at that

music is music.. but this is a business.. and its a much longer word then the word that comes before it

the "worst" album with the best business tactics behind it..

will always do better then the "best" album with faulty business backin it.

EXACTLY! How about instead of someone trying to find you, let yourself be notice? How about do shows/promoting outside of Northern Cali? All Im saying is you need to do more promoting outside the bay. Try to get gigs in l.a. clubs or something.

Bay rappers dont need to change there sound, they just need smarter promoting.

This is getting old. . . "why the bay will never blow up" , "why bay area rap sucks", etc, etc. .similar posts have been posted for years now with suggestions, advice, or simply hating on bay rap. I ain't hating on one who starts these threads, since everyone is entitled to post as they wish, but this shit is getting fucking old.

people either like bay rap or they don't. and if others don't like it and you do, then fuckin leave it alone. As long as you gettin wat you pay for, fuck the bullshit

Bullshit reigns in our day and time.

How many quality rappers have "blown up" in the history of rap music?

How many rappers who have went double platinum or greater are considered by real critics to be "great rappers"? 10? 20?

There is an establishment in music that you basically have to cow to and suck up to.

Apparently.....bay artists are not givin enough dome to major label execs. After you do that, and show that you are a mindless, useless ho of the industry, you will then be accepted.

It took Kanye West getting in a car accident to get his career going, and he was *on* Roc-A-Fella, one of the more established labels in the industry.


How many musicians, groups, and artists are rapping or producing? A million? Nine hundred thousand? Two milion? How many of them make *real* money and get *real* exposure? 5 hundred maybe...a thousand?

Y'all should realistically *never* hope or expect for the Bay to blow up. Success in this industry has nothing to do with effort, talent, or marketing. It's more like buying a lottery ticket. You have little to no chance at all. If you do win, they will make you a success, no matter how good or bad your music is. It's just about being that one lucky person who wins the lotto.


Also, what does success bring? Who would argue that the new hyphy movement puts out music that was just as good at the "glory days" of the 90s? Who would argue that since hyphy took off, people have been making better and better music? No one...because in fact everyone *has* got "dumb" and "retarded" trying to hop on the yellow bus, and this is how and when music quality suffers.

If the Bay blows up in the current musical state, we will get pigeonholed by the industry, everyone who does not fit the "dump hyphy on one" mold will not be thrust into the spotlight and miss their chance at exposure.

My view is this: independent artists should just be happy where they are, and hope to make it on a local and regional level. That is all the realistic success anyone can expect.

Im lookin at it like this, the bay is so diverse with so many ethnicities, that not every one is listenin to rap, thats why not enough cds arent being sold like the south does and why thats majors aint lookin at the bay enough but i think it the Bay is about to shine this year though fa sho

first the bay dont blow up cuzz we to much trapped in the 90's hey day. then we up our game and we sound like everyone else and we aint original. then we get hyphy , go dumb, get stupid. now what? that aint enuff? geezus.THE BAY IS A MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY. if we gonna blow then its gonna happen sooner or later.
