I stay away from getting involved in these types of threads because they are petty, but I felt compelled to drop a note-because I feel that this is part of a larger issue beyond FAB. Many of the people on here work supporting Bay Area music, many are dedicated fans of the Bay movement and others are losers that live vicariously through these forum's making commentary on things they cannot grasp (aiming for shock value to rouse folks).

The truth is the Bay Area has struggled over decades to get National shine and for so many reasons than can really be summed up here. It’s a complicated subject-but there are some obvious factors that often hold the Bay back. A major one is the Bay Area music scene is very insulated-artists can be self-sustaining and make a little money out here & so they become complacent to remain "hood stars". FAB has steadily built bases of support across the Country-via fans and networking with other artists. He has a different level of support now than he did when Son of a Pimp came out. Artists from other regions know who he is before they meet, and he is able to be a bridge connecting with areas that have more shine than the Bay does. New York is a major hub of all the major media outlets and they are in tune to the artists that are here. They are tangible and they put themselves out there-hustling at events and doing VIDEO blogs-CONSTANTLY. This feeds the media and they can support the artists by constantly having new content. You may be tired of FAB but there is still a world of opportunity for FAB to get exposure and reach new fans. With each hit he gets it opens another door. He started out with the Murder Dogs & Xplosives and then moved to XXL & VIBE & then he received exposure in the Washington Post and Fox News, his placements get more mainstream with each year and that is a major accomplishment.

So knowing the Bay’s track record, he needs as much name recognition and familiarity as he can before his National release is out (is he supposed to remain silent because he is in purgatory via the tediousness that is releasing on a major label). On top of everything he has to work twice as hard without the support of his regional radio station. He has the street support as well as the support of the new era of music—the internet. This is the formula of success at the moment.

On top of all this his heart is with his community from performing at high school rallies to giving money out of his pocket for thanksgiving turkeys and clothing for young people that look up to him—he has given back to his community and not just Oakland but all of the Bay Area. For that alone he deserves respect-he does it when there are cameras and when there are not. He is a true ambassador for our region speaking with intelligence and passion on the richness of our music/cultural scene and social injustices that fester there.

So I suppose when people stop talking about FAB that’s when he should be worried, but the Bay needs to support its own and understand that new ideas and openness could bring new success and THAT doesn’t just help FAB, it helps everyone. If anyone is carrying the Bay on his back—its him.

I gotta disagree with you on that one

Dutch has a thred that rebuttals this post almost to the T. I personally think your hustle is on point, but you are an attention whore. I as a consumer and a member of the siccness don't mind artist posting updates on albums, videos, ect. But most of the time its like it's not the music your promoting it's a narcissistic cry for attention. You love the cheers, but seem to be cowering when people give opinions of disaprovel. You have the ''why hate'' mentality, but maybe the reason is that you have your friends, family and ''baby momma'' on here (as well as yourself as baggerman) flooding the board with non music related fodder. Honestly people want to hear artist MAKE MUSIC NOT A MILLION VLOGS. You can't be that vain Fabby, nore should you be that surprised when an attention whore is given attention. It is not always going to Be praise and ''Fabby a fool'' when you flood the net with spam...sometimes it will be critisism and it will be coming from people you don't know just like people you don't know buy your albums.
I respect your opinion and you are clearly an inteligent person but I have to say you are off base with this one. In the music business you have to put yourself out there as an artist. I dont think any of us is naive enough to think that the public only cares about music and music related news when it comes to artists. We live in a visual society and most consumers want to know everything . they want to feel like they know you. I dont think puttin yourself out there via vlogs, blogs etc is bein an attention whore, I think its relevant and often times necessary marketing.

I don't have any of the patience to read all these posts but i keep reading how people are upset about the chain snatching videos saying he was crying for attention....

please understand that it was a MOCKERY of everthing! it was making fun of the rappers who get their chain snatched and then quickly pop up on youtube saying it never happended. It made fun of the rappers who claim to have snatched the chain and use it to bargain for positioning in the rap world, etc.... Consider it a humorous diss video

LOL...This shit is like a fucking tella novela. Fab exposes the secrete blogger as his baby momma, car accidents, freestyles from the gurney, back and forth conflict and excitement for everyone! What it comes down to is you have to have thick skin in this business. I think that Fab is like a lot of people in this industry right now just trying to stay noticed, but the smart people tend to do it when they have a product to capitalize off of said exposure. I don't know what his plan is, but he has to wise enough to see a shifting in public opinion when it is right in his face. As mentioned before an album would possibly cure all of this, but that doesn't seem like it's coming anytime soon. I did notice that there has been a closed lip to the question of the Atlantic deal and if it still or ever existed. At the end of the day FAB knows the truth in his heart and only he knows what kind of man he is, we can only judge what has been presented to us. If a person were to read this thread they would wonder why you and the love of your life are on here arguing with teenagers, because whom we fight with is normally the mark of our own maturity...and if you say that this cyber space is full of kids, haters and people without lives and your on here fighting with them...I'm just saying there is a lot of drama on here and if your going to be a professional you have to act like it at all times.
