RECENT SUPREME COURT DECISION: HUDSON v. MICHIGAN
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The court's most recent opinion has given the police carte blanche power to enter a person's home without knocking as long as they have a search warrant. This decision essentially makes a mockery of the Fourth Amendment and people's right to have some expectation of privacy in their homes. In theory this partisan decision seems somewhat logical but my fear is in its application.
What's worst about this decision is that gone are those days when evidence seized as a result of an illegal entry could be suppressed in court as a violation of individual constitutional rights.
BLACK PEOPLE SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS NEW LAW. WE KNOW HOW DISPROPORTIONATELY THESE NEW (LAW ENFORCEMENT) LAWS ARE APPLIED TO US.
