Well Im gonna trust Hugh Jackson on this...Palmer is familiar with his system as jackson mentored Palmer...

Our draft picks have been mostly miss in the early rounds for some time now....Plus we got moore and ford in the later rounds anyways.....I aint mad....

I don't think Al would've given up two first rounders though, maybe one and a 5th but two? Well we have a two time pro-bowl, franchise quarterback now. Hopefully he doesn't get hurt.

So does this mean that JC is done as a Raider?

it will only be 2 if Carson comes in and performs lights out!! which would be a good thing for us... Palmer is a vet and knows tha game and knows Hue.. Palmer > JC by leaps and #s.. goodbye JC.. I feel for him he had this team under his wing but all he was was a "game manager" we got us a talented qb now with a talented oline and WRs to go along with him.. not to mention our running game is WAAAAAAY better than tha bungles ever where

Fuck man I am not happy giving up two picks for Palmer especially since we went after Pryor this year and still have Campbell. Yes Palmer is a good QB and i'm happy to have him playing with the Raiders, but fuck not for two picks

Lol, what? That wasn't "Hue's system" in Cinci. He was the WR's coach, not the OC. Not sure how much a WR coach "mentors" a QB either, I think that's the head coach and QB coaches job.

Lol at putting all your eggs in 1 basket and mortgaging the future on a team that isn't close to being a Super Bowl team. Not to mention you got ripped off. Seeing what Baalke and harbaugh have done through the draft and what bill use to do has reminded me how important the draft is. I'd be pissed if I was a raider fan.

n Tuesday morning, Shutdown Corner spoke with Travelle Gaines of Athletes Performance in Carson, Calif., where Palmer has been working out for months. As it turns out, Gaines — who also works with the Raiders in an advisory capacity — was the man the Raiders leaned on to find out what kind of football shape Palmer was in. "He looks great — he's been throwing every day, and working with Ken O'Brien, the quarterbacks coach," Gaines said. "He's been throwing to his good buddy T.J. Houshmandzadeh(notes), working with Terrell Owens(notes) and Hank Baskett(notes). He looks great. I think he'll be ready to go and step right in for the Raiders. He and Coach Jackson have worked together in the past, and they have a great relationship."

Gaines has built up one of the more impressive NFL clienteles as a conditioning coach over the years, and the Raiders asked him to join their staff to play a similar role in the 2011 offseason. That paid dividends when the team starting doing due diligence on Palmer's ability … and availability. "Coach Jackson leaned on me heavily through this process, and they definitely kept tabs on him," Gaines said of Palmer.

shit, fuck a draft pick. If its that bad a problem hit free agency. Only get a couple of draft picks, thats fine. Not like we have a ton of vets about to retire and all need to be replaced by draft picks. I understand its good to draft players but I dont see it as the end of the world. hue felt he needed a qb bad so he went after Palmer. See if his gamble pays off better than going for it on 4th down last weekend... Im sure they will work out a new contract and make sure Palm takes a pay cut...

I woke up and checked google news like I usually do and got hella excited when I saw we traded for Carson Palmer.....I damn near jumped out of bed....but I'm too lazy so I just did a fist pump in the air.....lol

Carson Palmer without playing a snap since last season is still better than 2/3rds of the starting QBs in this league. He will excel under Hue Jackson. No longer will we have a game manager for a QB....this couldn't have come at a better time, week ass KC then a bye, then home against the donkeys led by young Timmy Tebow....after that we get our real test against San Diego, where we should be 6-2
