I was hoping the Raiders would draft him but I had no idea his hands were that bad. He tries to catch and trap the ball with his body. He must catch like that in practice or tries to catch like that in practice. It's really sad.

that last play of the game he jumped too early, and totally tried to catch it with his chest and it just bounced off it like a wall. Retarded.

Yeah man they didn't show film of his drops when he was about to be drafted. It's almost like he doesn't even have any hands... he doesn't attempt to catch the ball with his hands. He waits for the ball to hit his chest/stomach and then tries to trap the ball instead of just grabbing the damn ball. He must do that in practice too. I agree with you it's just retarded.

Bruce Gradkowski will replace JaMarcus Russell as the Oakland Raiders starting quarterback, coach Tom Cable said following practice.

Gradkowski will start Sunday when the Raiders host the Cincinnati Bengals.

Moments before Cable's announcement, the club was confirming, along with the Joint Powers Authority, a lease extension at the Oakland Coliseum through 2013.

I'm assuming they're not related . . .

Last of Russell in ‘09? Not likely

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 at 3:08 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders coach Tom Cable made it clear Wednesday he wasn’t looking at the elevation of Bruce Gradkowski to starting quarterback as a temporary move.

It’s hard to look at the schedule and conclude we’ve seen the last of Russell this season.

Over the next three weeks, the Raiders host Cincinnati (7-2), travel to Dallas (6-3) on short rest for Thanksigving and then play at Pittsburgh (7-2).

It makes for a nice story to see the underdog quarterback jumpstart a sagging offense, delivering the ball smartly to wide receivers and engineering some competitive games and maybe even a win or two.

Let’s keep in mind Gradkowski has yet to lead the Raiders to a touchdown, and in his last start _ for the Cleveland Browns last season against Pittsburgh _ completed 5 of 16 passes for 18 yards, was sacked three times, intercepted twice and had a quarterback rating of 1.0 in a 31-0 loss.

That’s not meant to be critical of Gradkowski so much as illustrate he hasn’t exactly played for NFL powers of late, having bounced from Tampa Bay to St. Louis (he was cut before playing a game) to Cleveland last December before joining the Raiders.

If the offense continues to struggle over over the next few games, which end in one-sided defeats, look for the company line to be that Russell has cleared his head, improved his work ethic and is ready to return.

On Dec. 13, the Raiders host the Washington Redskins before road games at Denver and Cleveland, allowing Russell a chance to pull out of a tailspin much as he did last season.

Damn... he'll do better than that though. If Gradkowski doesn't lead us to victories or at least scoring points then who is Tom Cable going to blame then?

Al is going to give him the ax if starting Gadkowski and bencing Russell doesn't produce points/wins. I wish him the best of luck vs that tough Bengal defense.... now is not a good time to bench Russell, but benching Russell will show that there are more problems than Russell.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders are benching former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell, handing the starting job to Bruce Gradkowski.

Coach Tom Cable said after practice Wednesday that Gradkowski will get the nod Sunday against Cincinnati. Cable says the plan is for Gradkowski to start the rest of the season. Cable has pulled Russell for ineffectiveness in two of the past three games. This will be just the second start for Gradkowski since 2006. He started one game last year in Cleveland and 11 games as a rookie for Tampa Bay in 2006. Gradkowski is 17 for 30 for 163 yards and two interceptions. Russell has completed just 46.8 percent of his passes this season. He has also thrown nine interceptions and lost five fumbles.
