that prevent D baffled me after playing 58 minutes of man they go prevent and get thrown under coverage.THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS! the Raiders of 99-02 did not play that way.

but whatever if we don't kick KC's ass I will not be a happy camper. it will be unacceptable.

jruss need to work on settting his feet like haselbeck mentioned on NFL Live
is accuracy sucks dog dick right now

this is jruss make or break year. this season will determine if we need to go after another QB in the draft or free agency
we have a good enuff team to contend in the west except our QB just fucks wit me.
Imma support JR only so much this year. He's in the cross hairs with the Nation and righfully so

if he wants to win we are gonna need him to restructure is contract for the future
we can get a bigger defensive accusition or better OL for or running game
2010 is un capped so AL needs to open that bill fold and get us a QB(if JR doesn't produce in 09) or someone the help us get points on the board. either offensive or defensive

bottom line
we can't afford to lose games we should have won this year

that prevent defense needs to be ripped out of the fuckin playbook

every single time we're about to win a game we go into prevent and let them run down the field

obviously it does not work for us, I dunno wtf we do it for

Mcfadden is going to be fine, he should be the least of our worries right now......IMO i like a back who dosent dance around much........Straight ahead with hella power and thats what mcfadden has....Mcfadden is a big hitter and he plays OFFENSE.......Did you see the block he threw on #28?.....Mcfadden is going to be a problem......

I really want to see what rankin can do getting some carries in a regular season game........If rankin can do well, fargas or bush can be used as trade bait.......

I wouldnt underestimate the chiefs either......Like someone said above they hung with Baltimore.......KC is much improved........But if we play like We played agianst SD, we should be fine.....

CSN Reports: Chris McAlister Signs With The Raiders

The little sports news updater on CSN has been running the line that Chris McAlister is signing with the Oakland Raiders!

Talk about the rich getting richer...snark!

I mean, the Patriots, Cowboys and Giants seem to have the most pull when it comes to getting the best players at this time of the season to fill a hole or add depth to certain packages.

This year, it looks like the Oakland Raiders just may have convinced some players around the League that playing on a good team with, THE Best Players Owner in Football, Al Davis sound attractive enough to have, reportedly, lured Chris McAlister to the AFC West's most beloved, Oakland Raiders!

I was able to find that it is hearsay from "People close to him", from the Baltimore Sun Blog, and I think that playing him at Free safety with Nnamdi, Tyvon and Chris Johnson would give us one of the best defensive backfields in the NFL to go along with Seymour, Warren, Kelly and Ellis...Am I dreaming?

McAlister to the Raiders?

Posted by Mike Florio on September 17, 2009 12:00 AM ET

Recently, free-agent defensive back Chris McAlister said that he'll sign with a new team on September 15.

It's now September 18, and McAlister still hasn't signed.

According to the Baltimore Sun, McAlister was in Baltimore recently, and he told friends he'll eventually sign with the Oakland Raiders.

He possibly will move to safety, if/when he joins the Raiders.

The 1999 first-round pick has spent his entire career with the Ravens.

Chris McAlister: Report: Raiders want McAlister
Chris McAlister - DB - BAL - Sep. 16 - 3:28 pm et

Free agent CB Chris McAlister is reportedly telling people close to him that he'll "eventually" sign with the Raiders.
The fit's sensible, if only because Al Davis thinks he can turn just about any former first-round pick's career around. McAlister is 32 years old, has chronic knee issues, and wouldn't be a threat to Chris Johnson's starting job. Sep. 16 - 3:28 pm et

Raiders notebook: Cable sees flaw in catch rule
By Steve Corkran
Oakland Tribune
Posted: 09/15/2009 05:54:08 PM PDT
Updated: 09/15/2009 10:05:31 PM PDT

A good night's sleep and half a day's worth to collect his thoughts did nothing to sway coach Tom Cable's belief that the Raiders were victimized Monday night by a rule that needs to be changed.

The officials ruled Raiders wide receiver Louis Murphy scored a touchdown on a 19-yard pass from JaMarcus Russell with 50 seconds left in the first half. But a review of the play showed the ball came free once Murphy hit the ground, and the pass was ruled incomplete.

"Yeah, perhaps it is a rule that needs to be looked at," Cable said Tuesday in his weekly news conference. "If you had that play happen 20 times this season, 19 of them would be touchdowns."

Cable cited the fact that officials aren't supposed to overturn calls unless there's indisputable evidence that an error has been made.

"If you go to the replay booth, it's supposed to be absolute evidence that it needs to be overturned, whichever way it is," Cable said. "When you spend that much time in the booth, obviously, it wasn't that obvious."

Cable agreed that, perhaps, the officials made the proper call based on how the rule is written but that the rule needs to be amended.

The Raiders settled for a field goal on that drive. They lost 24-20 to San Diego, or by the difference in points between the disallowed touchdown and the subsequent field goal.

"I had no idea I lost the ball, honestly," Murphy said after the game. "I came down and when I was pushing myself up,

that's the only time I really felt the ball come out, when I was getting up to celebrate. All my teammates said they thought it was a touchdown; both feet and my rear end land in the end zone."

Wide receiver/punt returner Johnnie Lee Higgins sustained a sprain of the A-C joint in one of his shoulders. He underwent an MRI on Tuesday. Cable said he is unaware of the severity of the injury. Left guard Robert Gallery is sore from a back strain he sustained in the first half, but he returned in the second half. It also doesn't appear serious enough to keep him from playing against Kansas City on Sunday.

Cable said Justin Fargas (hamstring) and Khalif Barnes (ankle) are cleared for full participation in practice this week. Barnes will settle into the role as a backup at left tackle and left guard. Fargas will be worked into the running back rotation with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush. Receiver Chaz Schilens is scheduled to resume running this week, a little less than a month after sustaining a broken bone in his left foot. Cable said it's unlikely Schilens will play against the Chiefs.

Murphy caught four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. Fellow rookie Darrius Heyward-Bey had no catches. He dropped one pass and had another catchable ball hit off his hands. "I saw a real nervous, uptight young man, a lot of big eyes," Cable said of Heyward-Bey. "He has to learn how to handle this, no question." Murphy was a fourth-round selection in this year's NFL draft. Heyward-Bey was the No. 7 overall pick.

Cable said it's real simple what receiver Javon Walker needs to do so that he can play in a regular-season game: "(Show) that he can run fast, get out of breaks and separate, those things."

Walker (knee injury) was deactivated for Monday's game. He said he is healthy enough to play. Cable begs to differ.

Rookie Heyward-Bey gets attention
By Steve Corkran
Oakland Tribune
Posted: 09/16/2009 07:25:24 PM PDT
Updated: 09/17/2009 07:13:48 AM PDT

Raiders rookie wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had a quiet game in his NFL debut on Monday night, but he was quite vociferous on Wednesday toward those who questioned his impact, ability and readiness.

Heyward-Bey started against the San Diego Chargers opposite fellow rookie receiver Louis Murphy. Heyward-Bey dropped one pass, had another hit off his hands and finished the game without a reception.

Murphy caught four passes for 87 yards, including a 57-yarder that resulted in a go-ahead touchdown with 2:34 left in a game the Raiders lost 24-20.

The day after, coach Tom Cable said it appeared Heyward-Bey was "real nervous" and an "uptight young man, (with) a lot of big eyes."

Heyward-Bey, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, had a different take.

"I felt the same I always did since I've been playing in high school," Heyward-Bey said while preparing for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. "I did what the coaches asked me to do when it came to running routes and everything, so I felt it was pretty solid.

"As long as the coaches notice, that's all that matters. I don't really care what the fans think or what anybody else thinks. As long as they see I'm doing the job they want me to do, they're the ones paying me."

Look beyond the statistics, Heyward-Bey said. Don't pay so much attention to the fact that he didn't catch any of the four passes directed his way.

His role transcends catching balls, he said. Oftentimes, his primary job is to draw attention away from the other receivers, Heyward-Bey added.

As evidence, the rookie from Maryland pointed to the production of Murphy, a fourth-round draft pick, and tight end Zach Miller. They combined for 10 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown.

"Just the fact that I'm out there, Louis had four catches and Zach had six," Heyward-Bey pointed out. "That's more than what any receiver had all last year put together almost. If you look at it that way, it's great. If you look at it the other way, you're like, 'When is it going to happen?' I look at it the other way. We're improving as a team."

Cable agreed Heyward-Bey's speed and deep-threat ability force teams to account for him at times with two defenders, which helps out elsewhere.

"He's already pulling coverage toward him because of his speed, and that definitely showed up," Cable said Wednesday. "That is a part of his responsibility, and a big part. But at the same time, he's got to grow in all facets, whether it's blocking, catching, running the route, pulling the coverage, whatever that is. You just want to get him as close to a complete player as quickly as we can."

Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe is in his third NFL season. He said it's understandable for a young receiver to start off slow.

"Oh, man, my first NFL game, I got hit so hard that I didn't know where I was, first of all," Bowe said in a conference call with Bay Area media Wednesday.

Bowe finished with three catches for 42 yards in his first regular-season game. He said encouraging words from veteran players calmed his nerves and helped him find his way before long.

"I had jitters until I got my first catch (two plays into the opener)," Bowe said. "Can you just imagine (what it's like) just shaking? If you're a playmaker, you're a playmaker. Once you tell yourself that and don't lose confidence, all the great receivers drop balls, mess up here and there, but it's how you come back that makes you special."

Raiders receiver Javon Walker said it's too early for the veterans to chime in. Heyward-Bey just needs to listen to his coaches and plug along until it becomes natural.

"It is something that should be expected," Walker said of the early struggles. "You got two rookies starting in their first game ever. I was a rookie at one point in time, but I never got put in that position. Eventually as time goes on, they will get more comfortable. You take what you know, and eventually you will go out and play football."
