No matter what Mistah F.A.B. does, he can't seem to shake the image of a "backpack" hyphy rapper. FAB hasn't dropped a hyphy song he can call his own in two years, yet everytime one of his new songs pop up on HHDX or AllHIPHOP.com, the haters come out yelling "fuck this hyphy shit." What's funny is that even people on this forum are saying that FAB needs to leave hyphy alone, when actuallity, he been left hyphy alone. Look at his new mixtape..."Play Time Is Over" doesn't have one hyphy track on it. FAB travles all over the country, pushing his shit. He does freestyle battles, live on stage freestyles, even cyphers, yet niggas still wont recognize what he brings. FAB has been going hard since "Da Baydestrian," and has basically left hyphy in the dust. He still a hyphy nigga because he from Oakland, but he has returned to his roots. Str8 Bars and rapping skills. If u dont like FAB that's cool, but dont use the excuse of "he's to hyphy," that shit is old and played out.

I know u B.A.R.T. haters are finna say I'm a groupie or I'm dickriding for "defending" Fabs name, but I really don't give a fuck. If you can say something critical without being called a hater, I can say something encouraging without being a dickrider.

i am one of the people you're talking about...i listened to baydestrian and there were a few tracks on there that i really liked actually, but they were all the non-hyphy ones. i can honestly say that i haven't heard much FAB since then, so if he's back to the non-hyphy shit, i'm more than willing to give it a listen.

however, it's not JUST that he was on the hyphy tip...i liked his hyphy tracks on son of a pimp....it's that he got hella gimmicky and corny with the hyphy movement. the ghostbuster song definitely didn't help.......

There is nothing wrong with being a "Hyphy Rapper"....The Hyphy Movement rejuvenated The Bay Area and brought a new energy and excitement to a region that had been almost forgotten about for almost a decade....IMO FAB should actually embrace his Hyphy roots because that's what made him so popular to begin with.....I believe many of the people who post negative comments on those site are the same people who post negative comments about him on this site, so why even bother trying to win them over, its not like a lot of them buy albums anyway.....And truth be told a lot of em are wannabe rapper themselves who are jealous because nobody wants to hear their music.....

I agree that there is nothing wrong being a hyphy rapper, if you only want to be accepeted in the Bay. But if u want to make it big, and be accepeted nation wide, u gotta branch out. FAB can, and has done both. He's done the hyphy and non-hyphy and has had hella sucess. But everytime he drops a new single, regardless of how good or bad it is, niggas focus on hyphy...they focus on shit from the pass. You didn't hear niggas smashing on Ghost Ride It when it first came out, now everybody saying how wack it is. To me FAB has the right equation. Rappers must be able to change with the times, morph, yet still stay true. FAB is doing that, people need to recognize that he's more than hyphy.

i like some of his music, i respect him lyrically. I think some people don't like him, not really due to his music, but because of the way he dresses. Alot of people don't think its a good look for the bay, all clown n shit.

^i was just saying that but when i went to post my comment it said i was signed out.

he killed it on 2 MPH. i know it shouldnt matter but i think another reason why people hate on him is just because of what he wears. i could care less but some people always bring up his fits.

the reason he will ALWAYS be associated with Hyphy is because he was (and in a lot of ways still is) the poster boy for that time period. When you look at his rise to prominence it was on the tidal wave of Hyphy and HE HIMSELF whole heartedly attached himself to Hyphy as if it were his own. When he had that beef with the Federation, wasn't it over HYPHY? He will have a hard time detaching himself from what ultimately created him...

You're right, but Fab as a rapper existed before the hyph movement. Nig-Latin dropped before he was even signed to Thizz. He had a few "Go Dumb" songs, but he wasn't into it like that. He rode the wave that everybody else did, he was just a better surfer. Why penalize him for being sucessful? Like I said, rappers need to be able to change and morph with the times. FAB has learned how to do what most veteran rappers havn't.

I hear what you saying Townbizz. FAB is the future success of our region. Associated with a movement bla bla, FAB is just a talented individual and people cant swallow the fact that he's really doing it.

I would understand if FAB moved out of the Bay to an LA or a Houston or a Atlanta and forget about the bay area altogether because of how many gossiping lil bitches there is in our region. At least another city could embrace his talents and put him in a better position in this rap game than a dead market called the Bay Area....

well

the hyphy movement seemed pretty strong,

but i guess no one is eating anymore

i mean, they just pulled the cord on hyphy

i think fab should downplay the hyphy stuff but keep the hyphy movement

if he stopped doing the hyphy, he would stop being fab

what would happen if lil jon stopped doing crunk?

he just downplayed it a bit, and he seems to be doing fine

young joc stepped off the snap music a lil bit too

i think if fab stopped doing hiphy completely, his career would crash

thats what usually happens, but who knows

-just my opinion

^you basically started listening to fab 2 days ago....the main difference between fab and them fools you mentioned is that fab is WAAAYYY more versatile than them...check tracks like "if i was a fifth", "if papa was home", "100 bars", "Jamonie Robinson" and you'll understand what i mean....fab will have a great career even without all that hyphy stuff

Lil Jon had a very successful career as a producer BEFORE crunk, and yet he is ONLY associated with that one sound. Its because he put himself out there to be the FACE of crunk, just as Fab has done to be the face of HYPHY. Yellow Bus, retard helmet, spongebob backpacks, loud colors, "shabooboolaboopie"?? Fab pushed that stuff as HIS image, and made HIMSELF the face of HYPHY. So noone should complain that when the hyphy movement died, so did Fab's buzz. He is just now trying to dig himself out of that hole.

I, for one, am interested in hearing how he does on the new mixtape.

But i dont cry for him for suffering the problems he himself created. If he is THAT talented and popular like every dickrider on here sez, then he should have NO problem coming back strong, right?
