I attended the PPR 101 Conference today. And this was sort of another eye opener.. not because of the information, BUT because there wasn't many people there. The only artist that attended was us(EVENODDS), Big Rich, Mistah FAB, Erk Tha Jerk, Netta B, and the Trendsettaz. THATS IT! All these so called pioneers or what ever didn't come and represent the region the way it needed it to be.

This was a conference to teach the importance of having a PR Rep.. and if YOU do not know what a PR Rep is then YOU are the bullshitter. Look it up.. they was giving great information. I've been to alot of conferences around the nation and all of em are more than $150 to attend. This one was four people for $150!!! Thats it. Less than $40 a head. NOT ONLY THAT.. but they had an artist showcase. You had to pay, but this was what the the pay off was.. The HEAD WRITER of 106 and Park was there scouting talent for Wild Out Wednesdays.. and that shit sounds fake, but i witnessed it 1st hand that it was real! He signed up 4 acts out of maybe 10(i think) that are FOR SURE going on and performing.. Now Im not with the "paying for shows" hype, but this was a great look.

And I say the "Bay is bullshittin'" because YOU weren't there.. we talk on this board all day about what aint happening out here, what opportunities we dont have and what not, and when shit finally happens out here, for OUR favor, niggaz sleep on it. GC Radio was in the building, Urban Network Connection, hyphyrockstar.com, Ill Trendz, VJTV, and others ALL doing on the spot interviews that will go public this week for sure. MTV was in the building, ALLHIPHOP.COM, DJs, Producers, Reps all da shit.. This shit shoulda been packed hands down! You could have been asking questions.. shaking hands.. exchanging business cards.. listening.. soaking game! Start making moves yall if you really want this shit to even BEGIN to pop off for you.. I'm really disappointed in the way we participate in each others endeavors.

I really don't know what else to say, but know what goes on in YOUR back yard.. this was at the Hilton in Emeryville.. Right off the Bay Bridge.. Under your noses! Hate it.. love it.. I don't care cuz its real.. yall missed it.

I agree...I know I don't attend as many venues and functions anymore cause there were too many at one time (2002-2006). Now the most Important venues are getting lost in the I Don't Give A Fuck pile and unless you have something to do with the venue you aint coming....

I think it's great that you went DEO. It would be dope if you could share a lil information with us about what they were talking about at the conference. But I don't think you should really look down on cats that didn't go. I for one knew nothing about this conference. And a lot of cats could be outta town doing shows so how could they attend this if they're not even around feel me.

But also there's so many conferences and panels happening all the time if you went to all of them when would there ever be time to do anything else. And there's a lot of mcs that have been successful that never attended these type of events. Im not trying to sound defensive but just trying to keep the discussion realistic.

The percentage of Bay Area artist that went was literally 2%.. that means 98% were clueless.. or just didn't care.. Thats the point bro. I put my studio on it that 98% of the BAY AREA RAP SCENE was NOT out of town doing shows or even "too busy" to go.. I'm not lookin down.. I'd tell any1 that they're bullshittin' to motivate them to step they game up..

The Bay is at a stand still because of lack of knowledge, or thinkin that they're too busy to get that knowledge. And I'm not saying "go to a conference and your career will go further".. BUT i am saying that WE as artist need to be in environments where game is being given by over a dozen industry factors in one day. In one room! *If you know who Stretch is (FABs manager), dude was speaking some real to them niggaz.. makin a few of them actually sound stupid! He's that's very reachable, and who every1 should have some type of relationship with.. That's one of the SMARTEST industry figures in the Bay right now.*

You might can run into any BAY AREA nigga out here but you will NEVER just run into the Senior Writer for 106 and Park, the Editor of ALLHIPHOP.com, and a producer from MTV Networks all at once.. UNLESS you attended these things. And that goes back to the support issues we have. They continuously kept comparing us to the south, MINUS the support system. Support from DJs, support from the fans, support from other artist. All of them niggaz have certain misconceptions about Bay Area Music as a whole, let alone San Francisco.. They still think we're in the "Hyphy Movement". and the ONLY artist that was there to speak up was EVENODDS, Big Rich and FAB??? To me that's an issue yall..

And I'm not even speaking to artist I don't know.. which are few. But I'm speaking to my actually peers that I see, work with, and fuck with on a damn near everyday basis ya diiig? People that I know that are on the same mission as myself.. and them niggaz is sleeping. My over all point is WE as a hip hop community needs to be more in tune to what's going on. Opportunities in the BAY only comes 1nce every what?

*side note* And if you see info about a conference and it sounds like bullshit, its nothing to do research on it!!! GOOGLE.. how many are going to BAPC? Which is in SF!

*to ARTISTIC* only about half the msg was actually a reply to you. I kinda went off into some other shit on my mind..

It's a new game. The music business is so self contained at this point. Recording, Mastering, Cover art, Digital distribution Online publications and promotion through Youtube Myspace twitter face book are all available to you from a home computer. Do you realize if you took the time to educate yourself how to utilize all these tools and resources available to you that their is hardly a reason to outsource these services?

^^^^Real spit..Make quality music and niggas gonna hear word of you...That's just the way it is. I don't see how the bay was bullshiting when the bay started this independent rap shit. The bay fell off with that hyphy garbage, and cats didn't wanna look ur way period!!! Get out there and put yourself on, and don't wait for a label to put you on. Make a buzz, and the labels will come get at you. LOL @ paying $150.00...Sounded like it was a "puttin on da hits" audition<>
