these are ALL your best arguements??
I never said he was dumb... his music blows, beats or no beats. As far as I'm concerned he could be rappin' over casio beats. If your not sayin' anything, your not worth listenin' to imo.
I'll give you ODB bein' a guilty pleasure. I wasn't a big fan of Mr. Big Baby Jesus myself, but I'd never compare the two. ODB is a legend in the game regardless of my opinion. Gucci, well, I don't think he'll have much of a legacy.
How is it that people don't get tired of hearin' this tired ass dope-boy, thumpin' beats, no lyrical content bullshit?!?!? This has nothing to do with the South. It has everything to do with dime a dozen d-boys on a microphone spittin' the same regurgetated(?) shit.
He sounds lazy on the mic, like he just rolled outta bed scratched his ass and blew his hot ass breath on the mic....

I'm sorry for yelling...

@Gas One, I can relate also, I have been out there too.

But I would rather listen to three 6 mafia trap music than his shit.
and youre allowed to do that if you want.

and so am i. so when you throw in 3 6 i might throw in gucci. whats the big problem with that?

if i feel like listening to oj da juiceman instead of mazart or bjork, is it that big of a deal?

i just dont get the close mindedness, personally...but shit if you dont like it call it a day move on to what you like, the way i see it..yknow?

I just don't get why this dude is so popular. This dude has the streets on lock here in Indianapolis.

Everywhere I go, i hear his shit and oj da juice man getting bumped.

I have heard a few joints i have (icey, brick man) but most of his shit i think is bland.

He got zaytoven on the beats and that dude brings the fire. Gucci has the beats, ill give him that.

But he doesn't really have anything else. So why all the hype and support?
ITs SIMPLE REALLY ................ HE HAS THE BEATS, THE VOICE, HIS SONGS ARE SIMPLE (NON LYRICAL CONTENT) YOU CAN RIDE AROUND TOWN AND SLAPP HIS SHIT CUZ IT SOUNDS GOOD WIT A SYSTEM, HE KILLED SOMEBODY & GOT AWAY WIT IT, HE HAS A GRIP OF JEWELS OFF 2 ALBUMS THAT WERENT GOOD (SO HE HAS THE LOOK). HE DOES HAVE SOME SONGS & MIXTAPES THAT GO HARD BUT HE HAS SONGS THAT MAKE YOU SAY WHY THE FUCK AM I LISTENING TO THIS SHIT.

HEs WACKnificent = SO BAD THAT ITS COOL TO LISTEN TO

OTHER WACKnificent RAPPERS:
JIM JONES
SOULJA BOY
DORROUGH (ICE CREAM PAINT JOB MAN)
MASTER P
LIL BOOSIE
SHAWTY LO
NORE
CAM'RON

LYRICS AND CONTENT ARE SO TRASH BUT U JUS LIKE TO VIBE TO IT ..... ALL THESE DUDES I NAMED ARE NO GOOD RAPPERS BUT I BET U LISTEN TO ATLEAST 1 or 2 OF THERE SONGS AND SING THE SONGS

WACK MC’s ARE LIKE CUTE FAT GIRLS.

YOU WONT LET NOBODY KNOW YOURE FEELIN THEM, BUT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, YOU LOVE THAT ASS

CUZ I'LL SLAP SUM BIRD WALK & TURN MY SWAG UP WIT HEADPHONES ON BUT I WONT SLAP IT IN THE RIDE WIT THE WINDOWS DOWN WHILE DRIVIN AROUN

I was comparing the two based on the fact that they aren't considered good rappers skill-wise, yet they had good production...ODB a legend? Damn y'all crack me up sometimes. I realize dude passed away, but come on now. Wu-Tang was/is legendary...but I wouldn't call any individual wu artist a legend.

Sorry for keeping it real...

it's got nothing to do with bein' close minded. I like alot of shit, I just don't get this guys appeal.
So what, he shot someone and got away with it. I'm not buyin' his record for that, or because I can ride around bumpin' shit that "sounds" good from a distance. I"ve got a system in my car, and Gucci has never been bumped on it.
I do realize that people have their own taste...
The problem is, most people have a terrible taste in music. LIsten to the radio, listen to MTV(sometimes) or BET... Lot's of BS is gettin' played and alot of quality rappers get shit on because CLOSE MINDED people only give a shit about "slappin" beats and hearin' dudes talk about the same shit over and over again.
It's rediculous imo.
But to each his own... just don't try to play that shit in my ride.

Really? ODB was the biggest star out of the Wu period.... And was barely even around most of the time! Also ODB was a good rapper skill wise. He had plenty of lyrics its just his style was crazy as fuck so people didn't hear what he was sayin... ODB is a fucking legend no matter what you say.

edit- During his time ODB was the biggest star, now of course Meth has done his acting shit and probably is more known now but from 93-till ODBs death he was probably the most iconic figure in the Wu.

i definitely would.

i dont think homie realizes how much wu has toured.
theyve been around the world more than a few times

odb isnt even close to the star alot of other wu members are and were. rza scored movies for quentin tarantino, not many people much less rappers can say theyve done that. i watched kill bill and saw his name on the credits in the first scenes and that movie went on to sell millions in the theatre AND home dvd sales..he did the beats for fucking boondocks and afro samarai..and im just talkin rza...

thats crazy. i consider them legends and im on the west. so i know theyre legends on the east...in japan and germany and every where else.....

i did go home in the middle of their set on rock the bells but thats because i cant stand corny ass hip hop fans and less because of wu

Now on paper Rza is definitely the most successful but when you ask random nobodies to name some wu tang members most only know Rza Meth and ODB.. And most of the time all they know is ODB. So that alone puts ODB higher than most in the clan.. But yea the Wu are all legends in the game. They totally upped the bar when it came to lyrics. Still to this day most can't fuck with them. And their old sound still sounds ahead of its time...

Now back on topic. Gucci has some cuts but when I listen to him I don't listen to him for the lyrical content. So I don't give a shit about how simple his lyrics are. Sometimes simple works and obviously its working quite well for him...

He was no doubt the biggest character out the wu...my personal favorite. His lyrics were great. Mainly cause they were written by Gza on his first album. Except for the ramblings and the off the top of the head shit, of course.

we can agree to disagree. id say method man is known outside of rap more than odb is (lets face it, odb is dead)

you have to realize that outside of the states, hip hop is huge...this isnt the only place they know wu

wu tang really is probably (i dont know why i said probably...) the biggest known hip hop group ever, so if you claim no one knows them, that means the world dosent know much about rap as a whole.....god forsaken somenoe asked them about grandwizard theodore or mc shan..

its like you think the normal person has no knowledge of the shit but they actually do. on a regular day im amazed by how many people know about local san diego rap that have no association with this website. when i went to rock the bells i saw an entire crowd of people stand up for mitchy slick, when honestly before that i would not have expected the hip hop crowd (not the ones in rock th ebells) to be up on him.

that same day i saw that one dude huey (google him, he was big on the radio charts..) walking amongst the hip hop masses at rock the bells...he coulda been doin a sold out show....i thought damn, hip hop really does spread far and wide...
