Started as a response to the current apolitical climate in commercial music, the Hard Truth Soldiers compilation series is a rallying cry for social justice. Each volume is a collection of material that goes against the grain of commercial hip-pop by providing content of substance, touching on subjects ranging from war and police brutality to black on black crime and domestic violence.
With the recent reduction of civil liberties, increased instances of injustice and racism both domestically and abroad and a rise in self-censoring corporate media monopolies hell-bent on stifling dissent while at the same time flooding our communities with negative and escapist entertainment, it's ironic that this is the most prolific period of protest song-writing in history.
And the Hard Truth Soldiers don't miss a beat.
Featuring Paris' trademark massive sonic production, Volume 2 showcases contributions from Paris, T-K.A.S.H., Uno the Prophet, Jasiri X, The Conscious Daughters, NYOil, Truth Universal and more!

In these lean times of global turmoil the hip-hop community must ask itself whether or not it is willing to step up to the plate and address issues through music and activism that are of importance to all of us. At Guerrilla Funk, we are, and there is no better representative of this commitment than T-K.A.S.H. As a Hip-Hop artist, radio personality and community activist, he is a part of movement to merge socially responsible messages with music that engages and stands the test of time.
He first introduced his style on his stellar Paris-produced debut, Turf War Syndrome, after leaving fellow revolutionary music stalwarts The Coup to join the Guerrilla Funk family of artists. Now he returns with his most inspired collection to date, touching on various social and political issues in this new post-Bush climate. Hard Truth Soldier to the fullest.

The Conscious Daughters - The Nutcracker Suite - Available Now!
Hip-hop is now larger than it's ever been - co-opted and used by everyone for every conceivable purpose - it can be argued that hip-hop is now synonymous with popular culture. In many instances it dictates popular culture, and time has proven that this can be both a good and a bad phenomenon, depending on the messages being sent. Sadly these messages are now almost always negative when it comes to women.
Enter the Conscious Daughters and their new album, The Nutcracker Suite. Hardcore street poet veterans with triple O.G. status in the game, they've proven themselves over time to be as cold as they come, fusing street knowledge with messages of empowerment from a distinctly female point of view that can only be described as refreshing in the middle of the testosterone-fest that hip-hop has become.
All hail the Queens.
The Nutcracker Suite touches on it all - black-on-black crime, domestic violence, the trials of single motherhood, and the need for unity and sisterhood. It features production by Paris, Rick Rock, One Drop Scott and others, with guest appearances by Paris, Mystic, Marvaless, T-K.A.S.H. and more.
With female voices all but absent in today's hip-hop climate, the time has never been more right for strong women's voices to be heard.
