Second shooting in two days in Lincoln Park

THURSDAY, JANUARY 13, 2011 AT 7:47 A.M.

A 35-year-old man was shot in Lincoln Park overnight Thursday in the second shooting this week that is possibly gang-related.

The victim was walking into his house on Magnus Way near South 47th Street at two minutes after midnight when several shots were fired at him, San Diego police said.

He was struck in the abdomen, police said.

There is no description of a suspect and it is not clear if the shooter walked up or was in a car, police said.

On Tuesday, also just after midnight, a 28-year-old man who was walking his dog on South Euclid near Trinidad Way was shot several times in the leg.

The victim told officers that a 90s burgundy sedan pulled up and four black teens issued a gang challenge and then got out and chased him before someone opened fire.

Gang detectives are investigating both incidents.

i was talkin to my g homie the other day, and this fool had the nerves to say "its 2011, its time to start bangin like it used to be"... i can imagine how many other ppl have this mentality.

all of us need to do our part and calming this bs down. it aint an easy challenge, but it also aint impossible.

I understand his feeling about it being watered down, but it's 2011 and we as a community black/brown need to start looking at the big picture. The country is in a mess moneywise and people are deseprate.We should try to take advantage of this time and use it to stop the violence cause most the young homies aint solid and don't know what they bangin for anyway.

If one of your family members got killed, or somebody close to you was to get shot up, ya'll would feel alot different. I could never get into the gang shit because I never was one to just want to go after somebody just because they were in the wrong gang that shit is pointless to me, No Offense to some of you but alot of these stupid motherfuckers if somebody said go and take a head first dive off a cliff you would do it just to prove you were down. Sad but true

Of course! That just makes it all the more better, right? How many of those people are innocent bystanders whose lives are cut short as a result of some bullshit? San Diego shooting may be third gang-related this week

SAN DIEGO — A 19-year-old man was shot Thursday night while walking near Euclid and Imperial avenues, San Diego police said.

It was the third shooting in San Diego this week being investigated by gang-unit detectives.

The victim told police that around 9 p.m. a tan, four-door vehicle with three black males inside drove up next to him and gave him a gang challenge, and one of the occupants fired a handgun at him several times.

The victim was struck three times in the leg, said officer David Stafford. He was taken to a hospital with wounds not believed to be life-threatening.

Just after midnight on Thursday, a 35-year-old man said he was walking into his house on Magnus Way near South 47th Street in the Lincoln Park area when several shots were fired at him, police said. It was not clear if the shooter was in a car, police said.
