Self inflicted wounds have been the story this season. First it was costly turnovers, now it seems to be penalties. Great win today, over a surprisingly game Rams team. I was impressed with Bradford.

Kinda bummed that Staley is out, but he honestly hasn't been playing that great lately anyways. Troy Smith has a nice arm and made some great throws today...especially the ones that got called back.

Tough game next week, but I think this was a good way to win. Wins like this build character, and hopefully we can keep this streak going.

There were plays that T.Smith made that A.Smith would have fucked up on.
Yeah, like every single deep pass, including the ones that resulted in pass interference calls, and every single play made under pressure.

With Anthony Davis playing the way he did today, Alex would have been lucky to throw for 150 yards and a TD with at least 2 INTs and we would have lost by about 3 TDs.

There's no fucking way in hell Alex Smith keeps that play alive that got the PI call on the throw to Delanie Walker. I still don't understand what's stopping Singletary from just flat out saying Troy is the starter?? Is the fact that he named Alex a captain stopping him?? Or he is really that fucking dumb??

yesterday was the first game i have been excited all year hell in the last couple of years troy smith is the truth they need to ride this out. if sing puts alex out there for anything other than garbage time he should be fired on the spot. 356 yds and the "W" that was fucking awesome if the penalties werent there they would have killed the lambs. GOOOOOOO NINERS BITCHES

whats impressed me most is the past two games no turnovers and when smith knows he is gonna get sacked he holds on to that ball like it was life or death.

I think alex starting also has to do with ownership as well, not just singletary.... troy is also under a 1 year deal, they need to extend him ASAP

Interesting stat I heard on the post-game show (didn't double check for myself): we've never won a game in which Alex Smith threw for more than 235 yards. What that means is Alex's bigger yardage games were a result of us having to be pass-happy in failed come-from-behind attempts. In other words, Alex is only good when the defenses are in a "prevent" style of play. Even then, he's not good enough to complete the comeback.

The problem with Alex Smith's situation is it's so easy to place the blame elsewhere. The offensive line usually gets the most heat when people are trying to excuse Alex's poor play. The receivers come next on the list of who to blame. Alexcuses.

he is naturally a right tackle? How will he do against the oppositions best pass risher though playing on the left..?

funny thing is even though the line made so many bad mistakes troy smith still stayed poised and got it done, so many big plays the guy really deserves a chance to be a starting QB. And I lol'd at alexcuses I read that shit on the red zone forums all the time ahaha

yeah boone is a natural right tackle just like sims is a natural left tackle i heard on sings interview something about snyder possibly taking reps at left tackle i know one thing on snyder that he sucks at tackle but is killer at guard. i think they need to activate both sims and boone to the active game day roster. just in case whatever they try doesnt work out so they have options to protect troy

I heard that stat too, and your right, but it really just comes down to turnovers, there were a couple Troy Smith throws last game that could of been really ugly for us, I feel bad for Alex Smith because he wasnt playing bad enough to loose the job in my opinion and then Anthony Davis who has been fuckin up all season, granted hes 21, lets a defender by em and ASmith's season is over. As shitty as our record is we played the Saints and the Falcons tough, and beat the Raiders who people seem to think are hella raw now, but with the torn up O Line it just makes sense to have a more mobile QB in the pocket but if Alex did come back, after his first incomplete pass the entire stadium would be chanting for Troy

Go 9ers!!!!!!!

You really don't think Alex played poorly and didn't deserve to lose his starting job? I thought he should have been yanked after game 3.

Nah I saw it as the Seattle game being his worst, which wasn't surprising since we didn't have our first team offense on the field the entire preseason, than I thought he had a great game vs the Saints, even with the first snap of the game and delanie fumble, @ Atlanta he started hot finished cold, had a great game vs Philly, and did fine vs the Raiders. Hes clearly better than David Carr but its 9ers first and Troys legs and arm make our weapons more visible on Sunday so it is what it is. My point is I thought Smith got fucked out of a win vs the Saints, Frank lost two fumbles vs Philly, I think Alex woulda won the Carolina game, and was/is capable of beating the donks and the rams. The real test for Troy is @ Arizona, we need a road win bad
