The problem is it is the "older" people that grew up listening to the previous sub genres of rap/hiphop? Same shit was said when gangsta rap hit the scene... all the older hiphop heads hated on it, they said it made us look bad. It was the youngstas that liked it and supported it, when the so called "hiphop purists" bashed it. It's really the same shit today..... the youngstas like Soulja Boy they support him, they relate to that shit.... just like all of yall realated to Snoop, Dre, Eazy, Cube ect.....when older people couldn't stand the shit.

EG why do you keep insisting the kid is "cooning" how to do you explain this? He acts no different then young teens do these days. This is how the young generation is.....

Soulja Boy goes hard with the hustling....and made a name for himself. Ice-T should be giving young dude his props instead of hating.

Yeah Ice T, Spice 1, and others are some who have had a big impact on hip-hop/rap from the beginning and are legends. But at the same time why single out Soulja Boy for the problem with the way the rap game is turning out. Yes, the shit that he is making is terrible, but there are much more and much bigger problems (artists) out there. In 2-3 years no one will remember who the fuck Soulja Boy is, but there are artists that are making a lasting impression in the mainstream rap circuit that are also making shit just as garbage. Let the little boy make the music for the kids. He's making the shit for 13-14 years olds and those are the main ones buying it (I hope), so let it be. Just my opinion. Its just funny as hell to sit back and watch these videos and shit online about these rappers going at it for nothing. Soulja Boy will be gone in the next few years, so Ice T (or whomever else) is really just wasting his time even speaking on the situation.
I don't see any problem with the rap game today. It is the younger generation that is taking over... it will just keep revolving. That is the way it is....it can't stay the same forever. You might not like the new shit, and the kids nowadays don't like the old shit, then their shit gets old, then some new kids come up on some new futuristic shit that the previous kids who will then be adults wont like.

It is evolution man.

real shit.

thats why i don't say shit about rappers like soulja boy, as corny as his music sounds. if i don't feel it, then i don't play it.... and thats where it ends. you're not going to see me talk about it extensively, or make some stupid ass comments on how he "single handedly destroyed hip hop"... are these muthafuckas for real?

ONE THING MANY PEOPLE DONT KNOW IS HOW SOULJA BOY FIRST GOT BIG EVEN BEFORE HE WAS SIGNED. HE USED TO TAKE HIS SONGS AND LABLE THEM WITH BIG NAME ARTISTS LIKE BEYONCE OR 50 CENT, THEN HE WOULD UPLOAD THEM ALL OVER SHIT LIKE LIMEWIRE AND MORPHEUS SO WHEN PEOPLE WOULD DOWNLOAD WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS 50 OR BEYONCE THEY WOULD GO TO LISTEN TO IT AND IT WOULD BE THIS KID NAMED SOULJA BOY INSTEAD. HE HAD MILLIONS OF MYSPACE HITS BEFORE HE EVER GOT SIGNED. ITS QUITE INGENIOUS IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT.
More like deceiving.

He was using Traffic master or Myspace mp3 play increaser software anyone can use that shit and get millions of plays in a day or two. Only unconfident & desperate artist use that shit. A solid artist dont need it.

LOng as you can market yourself and promote yourself right you dont need non of that shit and if a artist is a smart man he dont even need no major deal to get paid.

EG why do you keep insisting the kid is "cooning" how to do you explain this? He acts no different then young teens do these days. This is how the young generation is.....
That little nigga IS a coon. All of that shucking & jiving & bafooning he's doing is coonish. A lot of youngstas do act like that, wearing louad colors & goofy ass outfits & they are acting coonish as well.

Don't get me wrong..... they are not of my generation & have their own thing going so I'm not expecting to relate to that but just look @ them. Come on now. There grown ass crackbabys from the mid 80's to the early 90's.

And I wish people would stop saying Soulja Boys music is for the kids. Skeeeting on a bitch back aint no music for kids. If that's what he wants to rap about then fine, that's his business but people need to stop saying his shit is for the kids. This nigga got a song telling his teacher to not give him F's on his report card & to throw some D's on it. That fact he flunked the 9th grade twice let's me know he might of been taking that song serious. Low expectation having ass nigga.
