What people don't understand, is that albums DO NOT SELL anymore. There are too many places where u can freely download an entire album in 5 minutes. U gotta double everyones numbers to be acturate imo.

It's a shame but very true, more like triple those numbers. Ill support those CDs worth more than 1 listen and bay artists. But other than that I rapidshare that shit.

Blaming downloaders for poor or less-than-what-you-expected numbers, and saying you should "double" or even "triple" an artists soundscan total to get a "more accurate" figure is the dumbest shit I've heard. The music industry was, is, and will remain to be a multi-billion dollar a year business. Plenty of cats go gold & platinum, and it's never been easy. It always was and always will be a hard thing to do. Cats have been hoodwinked by all that bling bling shit into thinkin' it's easy to go platinum and make a lot of money. WRONG.

Yes there's a lot of downloaders but how many of those people would have actually bought the album anyway? Probably <1% considering all the complaints about how shitty music has gotten. People are sick of paying for albums that don't live up to the price tag and they're not willing to gamble their money like they used to. Especially when it comes to rap.

As far as E-40's numbers, I never expected the kind of results some cats convinced themselves there would be. I think it was a successful effort and I congradulate everybody who contributed.

i buy maybe 10 cd's a year now i used to buy about 30-40 cd's a year. there's only like 3-6 cd's a year that you dont skip one song. so all the rappers who arent good but have good features i just download

Nah, the d/ling IS directly to blame. 1 rapper went platinum this year, 1. The economy is to blame as well. I'd rather not drive a $3 mile to the record store to spend $11-16.99 on a CD that I might not listen to in a few months. I'd rather spend the couple bucks for a pack of CD-R's, sit on my fat ass eating string cheese and download it. Also, the quality of music is lower, as someone in another thread stated, everyone follows the forumalic way of making albums. You already know what your gonna get, why spend the money. I only bought a few albums this year ( Cube,Team, Ghostface ). and only after d/l and listening for a month straight would I decide to go spend my money on it.
