Hope this doesn't turn Stuckey fans the other way but

Rodney Stuckey, who said he rooted for the Bulls to beat the Sonics in the 1996 NBA Finals, won't shed too many tears if the Sonics leave.
"I never really rooted for the Sonics," Stuckey said. "I was always a Bulls fan. I mean, the Sonics aren't bad, they just aren't my team. It's still good to have a team in Seattle; they need a team. If the Sonics move out, Portland will move their team to Seattle." -- Detroit News
Like Stuckey, I never liked the Sonics and was at Game 4 with my Jordan jersey on, but unlike Stuckey, I don't want basketball to leave Seattle as I'm a big fan of the sport in general.

Interesting quote
"If the Sonics move out, Portland will move their team to Seattle."
You gotta be kidding me if you didn't think Clay Bennett isn't going to move the Sonics. That was his intent from day one. There is only one person that can keep the Sonics here and it's not going to happen.

With that said, Seattle will get an NBA team after the Sonics leave. There is a very wealthy owner from Seattle who has a team in a small market, and a franchise that is trying to turn itself around. Hmmmm..........

Interesting, just like LeBron in Cleveland.

Athletes are known for being good athletes, not being good fans.

As for fans like Tony, some people just like to root for winners and that's it.

Woo! Rodney Stuckey. The dude says some foolish things, I think.. He broke his hand in three spots at the end of the preseason, and he thinks he could be back by the end of next week..

When I started watching basketball again, I liked their players and I was heavy into Sac music. Mostly though, I'm just an overall fan of the sport. I like to watch every team.

Gary Payton and Kemp were what made the Sonics fun to watch. To me, its been hard as fuck to be a fan of the Sonics ever since Gary Payton was traded. They lost their identity. And a lot of fans too.

Regardless, the Sonics are one of the very few teams I actually like and cheer for. The Bulls, because I'm from Chicago, and Portland because they're North West. But no other NBA team I really invested a lot of time and emotions into. I can still remember how heart broken I felt the day the Sonics lost to Denver in the first round....Kemp missing those free throws...damn. That was their year too, Jordan wasn't playing in the NBA that season...arrrgggghhh what could have been :(

It just pisses me off that these pricks can say Seattle doesn't have a fan base and this and that. THIS WAS a basketball city during the GP/Kemp/Schrempf/McMillan/Perkins/Gill era. It's just been so hard to be fans because the team sucks thanks to shitty ownership and thats how this city is, with all sports. The seahawks weren't selling out games when they were below .500 either. And the reason why their home opener didn't sell out was because everyone in the state of Washington knows they're moving. No one wants to waste their money on a team thats about to leave.

The Sonics were the first Basketball Team I liked. I still think they are tight. Fuck an Oklahoma.
