Raiders re-sign Fargas after 1,000-yard season

NFL.com said:
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Justin Fargas is staying with the Oakland Raiders.

The running back signed a new deal with the team Wednesday instead of testing the market as a free agent.

Bringing back Fargas had been a priority this offseason for the Raiders. He is coming off a 1,000-yard rushing performance last season despite starting only seven games.

Fargas began the year as the backup to LaMont Jordan but was inserted into the starting lineup in Week 9. He posted three 100-yard games and averaged 96.8 yards per game rushing over the next seven games before sitting out the final two games of the season with an injured right knee.

The former third-round pick of the Raiders in 2003 led the team in all rushing categories with 1,009 yards on 222 carries with four touchdowns.

Fargas is expected to enter the 2008 season as the starter in a running back corps that includes Jordan, Dominic Rhodes and 2007 fourth-round pick Michael Bush.

good shit. hope we get rid of jordan and have bush rhodes & fargas battle it out for starter. I like fargas's speed and I think rhodes is a good back, I still wanna see how bush is in the nfl tho

i dont see why they would, they also got bush, and with fargas improving the way he did last year, they gonna have 2 good backs. I think oakland gonna go after some WR

we need the best player available and fuck using a 1st rd pick on a lineman, same thing i said last year. if they are going to get a WR they should trade down because i dont think there is a receiver coming out thats worth the 4th pick

I was actually thinking of what our true needs are not "lets try to poke fun at the Raiders because my team can't win a playoff game for if our lives depended on it"

what's next, "at least we made it to the playoffs" or "well we got more rings then you"?

I know, I know I know, its YOUR team........and its YOUR quarterback :cheeky:

^I thought parcells took most of his staff with him to miami?

I think for the Raiders its really about Al Davis and steady coaching. if he gives up control we can start winning again. it won't be immediate, but if we can keep a good or at least decent coach for more than 2 season's we'll have a chance to get something going.

as far as needing a whole new squad that's hella absurd, we got our franchise qb, good corners & linebackers, a solid team of RBs and decent TEs. we need WR & Linemen
