SOHH.com reveals fans are "uninspired by today's music" in recent poll
Thursday - May 24, 2007
— Siccness Staff

Does the Sound Scan Killer Really exist?

As the summer approaches so does the list of new releases from artists vying to stay afloat amongst slumping CD sales. Artists such as 50 Cent, R. Kelly, T.I. and Maroon 5 all have upcoming releases that both retailers and record labels hope will stop the bleeding from downloading and get CDs off the shelves.

But, will fans jump to buy this summer? No, according to SOHH.com.

A recent poll conducted by the site, that included feedback from music consumers between the ages of 12 and 35, has revealed that 70% of those surveyed admitted that they don't buy CDs as much as they once did because they are "not inspired by many albums."

Results from the poll also point out that 82% of participants found themselves purchasing less full albums than in recent years because of this. When asked if they would ever download an album for free instead of purchasing it, a resounding 67% responded with a yes.

Please contact me at [email protected] or 212-584-4310 if you would like a copy of the complete survey and or speak with Director of Content Erik Parker about this continued trend.

Complete results to the poll can me found at Sohh.com:

Music nowadays suck. specially rap. i havent listened to commercial music in yearsssssss. we finally seein the backlash of trash music and radio/video manopoly forcefeedin the consumers. There are very few quality artists left. Jay-Z, Nas, 50, Styles, Jada, Beanie Sigel. The attention might shifts towards indie artists.

SOHH is great entertainment. Some of the posters might hate on the bay but overall its a complete hip hop web site. Just being honest.
