I guess he's better then mohr. I'm just not excited about the defense the giants will have in the OF. If only we could trade for eric byrnes.

what are your thoughts on Alou?

oh, and if you go to a game, be sure not to high five him.

Byrnes will probably get traded before Spring Training. The A's got Charles Thomas who is comparable to Byrnes offensively, better defensively, and will cost a couple mil less since Byrnes is arbitration eligible. I don't think Beane would trade with SF anyway, but I don't think they have anyone he'd want regardless.

actually from what i've heard, billy beane and brian sabean have respect for eachother and have tried to deal in the past. they are bith open to it. plus byrnes grew up in redwood city and was a giants fan

I find that hard to believe... Who do the Giants have that the A's would want? I don't think Beane wants any of these elderly Giants players.

Do a search on that ESPN site, everyone's posting that the guy who posted it has been posting hella fake shit about Eric Byrnes. That guy said Byrnes was meeting with GM's and then Byrnes went on KNBR saying he had been in Hawaii and hadn't met with anyone about anything at all.

I like him, he's fun to watch, but he's really not that great. A lot of his big catches are balls that are really routine but he misjudged. He strikes out a lot too. OF should probably be Thomas/Kotsay/Swisher next year and Byrnes will cost too much to be a bench player.

Alou was a good pickup, its cool he gets to finish his career (if he decides to retire after the 2 years) with his pops, and he went to Canada JuCo so its kinda like being a hometown for him.

Im thinkin he'll put up 25 hrs, 105 rbis (if he hits behind bonds), and hit maybe .270. Its gonna be tough for him going from Wrigley to SBC. But hes a vet and a great hitter so he's better than most of the OFs the Giants have been getting the last couple years

i think his numbers will go down from last year but he should still put up good numbers for you guys.

remember Giants fans hitting at SBC (pitchers park) is not as easy as hitting at Wrigley(hitters park).

oh so old, so old........can it really be considered "Better with age" i guess we will have to wait and see

Giants better with age

The Giants signed star outfielder Moises Alou to a two-year contract. Alou, 38, joins Omar Vizquel, 37, Jeff Fassero, 41, Mike Matheny, 34 and Armando Benitez, 32, as this offseason's free agent signings.

C-Mike Matheny, 35
1B-J.T. Snow, 36
2B-Ray Durham, 33
3B-Edgardo Alfonzo, 31
SS-Omar Vizquel, 37
LF-Barry Bonds, 40
CF-Marquis Grissom, 37
RF-Moises Alou, 38
Average age: 36

They tried hard to get Dave Roberts before the Red Sox shipped him to San Diego for Jay Payton and Ramon Vazquez. But they would not deal a pitcher; Boston either wanted a prospect (Matt Cain or Merkin Valdez) or Dustan Mohr and either Jesse Foppert, Brad Hennessey or Noah Lowry. So Roberts was traded elsewhere and the Giants got Alou, the RBI machine, to bat around Bonds.
