no affiliation to what? a political group? when you say liberal, moderate, or conservative you're looking at a political ideology. so what im asking is: can i claim to have no political efficacy and be an independent? can i also have some sort of faith in the goverment and a democracy/republic and still be an independent? What if I think of myself as a liberal/conservative but don't belong to the democratic, republican, green, etc party? wouldn't i be an independent then also?

It goes like this

Liberal..............Moderate...............Conservative
(Left) (Middle) (Right)

An Independent has no affiliation
One-dimensional categories of "left" and "right" are too simplistic in determining someone's politlcal beliefs.

I assume that by this line you mean the social aspect of politics, since if it were the economic dimension it would be

Left.............................................Right

Where the far right signifies completely liberal, laissez-fair economic views whereas the far left is basically for a state-controlled economy.

One needs to consider both the economic and social dimension.

Venom.....The Liberal/Moderate/Conservative would have been more appropriate.....Independant belongs in between Democrat and Republican.

Im a registered independant, with strong conservative values. I voted conservative. Had you put something like Democrat/Independant/Republican, I would have voted Independant.

@ mexicancommando wtf is a liberal/conservative like a hybrid of Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken?? LMAO
^^^ one can be like that. they are called Libertarians. most are right of center and agree alote more with conservatives but at times disagree strongly with them and side with liberals, especially on social issues.

Phil is one. personally i think there is a little bit of libertarian in all of us. well maybe NOT all of us, socialists and commies are about the farthest thing from Libertarians

Everytime this topic comes up, it's always shocking to see, how many people on this "rap based" music board have conservative beliefs...

To me the two do not go hand in hand...and I may be mistaken but I think liberatarians are ultra-conservative, not right of the middle...they are far right...

Yeah that is kinda weird, but I also think it is weird equating politics and rap music in general

I am all for Kerry I think he is a strong canidate but him claiming to listen to hip-hop sounds like a crock of shit to me, I would like to ask him what is the latest rap CD he has bought
