I wouldn't celebrate signing to a label under another muthafucka that doesn't know the game. I remember when MC Eiht signed to Hoo Bangin Records (Mack 10's label), a veteran signing under a rookie. Mack 10 had to sign under Cash Money Records his damn self. People signing under Games' Black Wallstreet umbrella are mistaken if they think it's going to result in any difference in sales. Game is not a businessman, his own damn sales were because of who he was affiliated with, namely JT the Bigga Figga and Dr. Dre. He's still calling out Dre's name on songs like "One Blood" like he was in the studio with him. Clyde Carson would have been better off signing to a label directly instead of tying himself up through BlackWallStreet. He has the talent and the drive to do it. Capitol Records hasn't known what to do with rap music since they had MC Hammer. Ya Boy should have done the same and now you see where he is right ? He aligned himself up with Game and now he's fending for himself once more. He should have signed a deal with a reputable label when he was hot off of "16's Wit Me" and we would have seen an album by now. Rap fans have a short memory, come out with the product while your hype is it it's highest, fans don't have to anticipate YOUR music because there are 5000 rappers as tight as you AND they come out with music on a regular.

Yeah i feel that Sav most bay rapperz are lookiNg to align themselves with
a lil bigger name than what they got even if that means throwing away some
of the older past relationships cause they thiNk they fouNd themselves a short cut to getting to their goal which is to sign to a major. I meaN you see all these rappers aNd they all say that there makiNg moNey im makiNg money, im making money, im making money o.k. save that fucking $crilla till you got
$100,000, $200,000 thousand go buy a beat for a siNgle from Scott Scorth, or KaNye West, Cool N Dre or Lil JohN aNd push that shit We caNt go major iN these game just with the bay or eveN L.A behiNd The Game couldN't eveN do it if he didN't have New York, MTV, BEt kNowing who he wuz he wouldN't sold whut he sold i guarantee whoever Game signs he's just goNNa let them do them he's goNNa push he's 2 or 3 siNgles no matter who's oN his label

Most definite...

This Game isn't what it used to be back in the mid 90's (the Death Row era), where if you signed to a label, you had made it. All that glissens isn't gold...look at 2Pac (for example). Flashing money on camera etc ect...but didn't own shit & died almost broke (being that he was signed). Yeah, it was a bad contract & dot your I's & cross your T's, but that still don't mean you are amune to getting fucked over no matter how much Game you may think you got.

Photo shoots, promotions, studio time etc etc...are not free. The major labels charge that to your budget (and it's almost triple than if you went out & did it yourself).

I see alot of Folkz talkin' about what their next move is yada yada yada...but ask them about their publishings through ASCAP or BMI and they go "huh? what?"

$hort said it a long time ago, own your own publishings. Don't let the labels grant royalties off your material.

Everybody quick to talk about how much money they want upfront & what they would buy if they ever saw that kind of doe, but less than a handful know about http://www.ascap.com

I'm not a big Master P fan, but I must admire how he handled his business when the majors knocked on his door (I don't agree how he stole Game...) P owned his publishings and everything else, he called the shots of what he wanted. His hype was so big, they were willing to play buy his rules even if it ment they (the majors) made chump change compare to P. He only ended up signing a distribution deal...the rest, as they say is history.

STAY INDEPENDENT, OWN YOUR PUBLISHINGS AND OWN EVERYTHING YOU DO!!!!

Also I think rap is so flooded right now, specifically with people piggybacking on someone with some more notariety. Thats right that its not like it was in the early 90's where if you got signed you were in, now theres a lot of competition the game is twice the size it was back then
