but if you think c-bo or brotha lynch are even doing 20k nowadays, you have to pass some of that good your smoking this way. thats some good shit! as far as verses, dvd, and all the other shit, man rap music isnt what it once was. we could argue back and forth all day, but i can guarentee that in the bay and sac region, yeah, theres a hand full of artists probably making a little bread no doubt, but overall theres no one pushing even 50k. e-40, yeah. outside this region i dont know what other indie artists are doing. your right about one thing though, it should be a hobby!
So ur saying Lynch & Bo's solos aren't doing more then 20k? We're talking about Lynch & Bo not Turf Talk & T-Nutty. When BMR thru EBK4 together it still sold 100'000 copys. And that wasn't even real Lynch material & most of his fans knew it.

Look @ Yuk. If he just sat on his ass between Godzilla album & MDMP he would of been broke. He kept grinding pushing mixtapes, DVD's, energy drinks etc. Rap money don't pay too well & u gotta do other shit.

ICP has a cult following. That shit they do is corny but they have a huge following & a following is bigger then a fanbase cuz fans come & go but a cult following will always be around. They got a wrestling promotion cracking, DVD's, clothesline & GOD knows what else. Them dudes are rich homie. And they don't get NO radio play. They did something that worked for them & kept it moving.

^^^ yah as much as i hate ICP fans i gotta respect ICP for doin what they are doin because in the independent game they are pretty much unrivaled
after reading this i looked up icp on wikipedia cause i used to listen to them when i was 13, and this really cracked me up!...

"According to Violent J, after paying Ol' Dirty Bastard to perform on a track for the album, ODB sent them a tape of him randomly screaming garbled lines. It took ICP and producers two weeks just to scramble together some lines of his that would work and had to record the song and name it "Bitches"."

hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Not an ICP fan but their fan base is like no other. They sell like a million hatchet chains a year. If you're in the upper midwest you'll see way too many juggalos with all their merch.

That's what I'm talking about. I was looking @ the deleted scenes on Beef II & they were interviewing Violent J & they a warehouse full of shit. Them dudes don't even have to release an album.

I seen a white bitch out here in Sac with a Psychopathic shirt on like 2 weeks ago

Look @ Tech N9ne. His album releases are mentioned in the same breath as a major release. Several years back I would bring his name up & people didn't even know who dude was now everybody knows who he is & none of it came from any mainstream hype.

Um Lynch & Bo solos sell 100k on a reg & both are indie. And who said they gotta be a Bay or Sac artist? We're talking about an artist in general.

Even if u selling 50k that's good.

If I was doing 25k that's a good on an indie if ur doing a lot of shit hands on. 6-7$ per unit doing them kind of numbers aint bad. Add the fact that artist(smart ones) do shows, sell verses, got the DVD hustle going & a few other things cracking. They may not be rich but if u got a house & a couple of whips then ur living the American dream right there. U aint gotta be rich. The music industry isn't even designed for everyone to be rich. If u just looking to live off strictly rap money then ought to just look @ it as a hobby.
I seriously doubt lynch or Bo have put up those type of numbers in like 10 years

LOL @ ICP. Those suburban fake thugs claimed a part of detroit they were NOT from. South West. They actually moved there to get "street cred" then got ran out by SW Detroit gangbangers. Wiggers eat up their faggotry. They are Trash.

You the type that would suck dick for a dollar then turn around and say "i'm not gay at least I made a dollar." Fuck outta here.

I just hate fake rappers. I know most are fake, but the fact these clowns(No Pun) make money off a poverty stricken area they are not from is wack to me. They are the michigan version of Kobe Soz but at least Soz don't claim West Oakland or something. I also get tired of the money excuses wackness. That is the main problem with hiphop. Rappers will sell their souls for a dollar. Its a damn shame. "Yeah so in so raps about molesting children but hey he's rich". Thats wack.

i am not an artist, i am a producer... and all i hear is about artists getting signed major and getting shafted, but what about producers? what are the ups and downs of a producer getting signed to a major? can u sell a beat to anyone without the record label taking a cut? or are u now that label's property?
