Over the past few days, Matt Maiocco has been hinting at a possible trade in his Press Democrat blog, Instant 49ers. Could the San Francisco 49ers be targeting a cornerback?

When asked by a fan about a potential trade for a cornerback, Maiocco replied with the following:

I have credible information that something could happen. You'll be the first to know when I get it nailed down.


When asked again about the potential trade for a corner, Maiocco said this:

As for the news about the CB, you'll know when I get it nailed down. I don't want to start any rumors.


Maiocco has been very careful not to drop any player or team names but appears to feel that something may be in the works. The 49ers are currently ranked 25th in the league against the pass allowing 224 yards per game.

I wonder who it could be...... theres only really 1 DB on the trade block and thats Colts S Mike Doss, any1 else got any ideas? maybe sum1 with espn insider?

I don't know who it could be but it better be someone good.. The whole secondary needs to step it up and cornerback does need to be upgraded. Mike Adams, Tony Parrish and Mark Roman are good safeties but they need to get things going. After they get a CB they need to look at the pass rush..

prolly gonna trade away a draft pick

the safetys are decent, we have Mark Roman and Chad "pound for pound" williams,
parrish really has diminished and adams is pretty weak, both players prolly wont be here next year, Ahmad Carrol is really really iffy, im not too sure on dude.....

^ yeah, hes a safety, but i said the only DB that i know is on the block is doss, but they are looking to get a CB.

LOL @ Anthony Westbrook..

And that stiff arm wasn't "mean." It was effective, but in no way was it anything to brag about. Basically he just pushed him off, which is the purpose of a stiff arm, but when you talk about a mean stiff arm you think about one where the defender gets laid out and shit.
