Between the guys we have been rumored to be looking at (Charles, AP, Lacy) I think I wanted Lacy the most out of the 3.

I think that the expectations for AP would just be way too high for a 32 year old coming off injury and everyone would expect him to ballout like 2012 and would get pissed and cause a bunch of drama when he did not (like Jimmy Graham x 2).

Charles just seems to be overcome with injuries and Lacy at 26 still has a lot of potential upside.

Lacy - Rawls - Prosise is a solid backfield IMO.

What's crazy is Lacy was selected as the 61st overall pick of the 2013 draft by the Packers. Seahawks selected Christine Michael 62nd. The word is Seahawks wanted Lacy as a replacement for Lynch but had to take Michael instead.

Michael is still with the Packers so it's essentially like we swapped our second round picks.

Packers got rid of Lacy because the money they would have paid him didn't make sense since the entire offense goes through Rogers. Whereas here Pete still wants to be a run first team. So the move makes sense for both teams even though the Packers lose talent. Plus they just signed Martellus Bennett from the Patriots, and paying him over $21 million for three years or something like that.

I was thinking the same thing. I like that Lacy is only 26. Initially I thought he was older, but 26 I think is the same age Lynch came over from the bills. It's a good age in the sense that he's been in the league enough to understand everything but not old enough to have a ton of mileage.

Michale Robinson was saying AP didn't fit at all with the Seahawks:

“Seattle is a zone-running team,” Michael continued. “AP’s not a zone runner. He’s a gap-scheme runner. So all those things that I just mentioned checks out that this guy just doesn’t match up with Seattle.”

So as far as I'm concerned the only issue with Lacy is his weight. Supposedly he was 267 pounds during free agent visits. But he's been rehabbing an injury so Pete was saying that won't be an issue and Lacy understands what his weight expectations are, that he wants Lacy big around 235-240 and that they wouldn't have signed him if Lacy and the Seahawks weren't on the same page as far as his weight goes. So I think it will play out fine especially since the contract he signed is a one year "prove it" type deal which is heavy incentive based ($3 million guaranteed but could make $5.5 million if he does x, y and z).

I never really liked Kaep until he started kneeling last season, but teams in need of a QB are straight stupid for not signing him.

He led the 49ers to a SB for fuck sake. He just got caught in the turmoil of Jed York and Harbaugh. On a new team with a good QB coach he would be a top 16 QB.
lmao with 1800 yards passing and 10 TDs? He filled a position on a good team that went to the SB that year, lets not act like he had a superstar caliber season that year.

Don't get me wrong, I think he is better than at least half of the QBs in the NFL, but he needs to prove it.

Hall of Fame Seahawks lineman Cortez Kennedy dead at 48

Seahawks Hall of Fame defensive lineman Cortez Kennedy has died at age 48, TMZ first reported.

Orlando police confirmed Kennedy’s death to TMZ and the Blytheville Courier News, saying there was "nothing suspicious" about it. An investigation is ongoing.

Kennedy played 11 years with the Seahawks and made eight Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams after being drafted out of Miami in 1990. He was the 1992 Defensive Player of the Year. Kennedy was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012.

Luther Campbell, better known as Uncle Luke, remembered his late friend on Twitter.

"I just got New one of my best friends Cortez Kennedy pass this morning my condolence goes out to his this is going to be hard. R.I.P TEZ"

Will this be a good acquisition?

from msn:
Luke Joeckel, OL, Jaguars
Joeckel was a complete mess at both tackle and guard for the Jaguars the past four years, missing a total of 25 games in that span. He struggled in pass protection, wasn’t a dominant run blocker and failed to stay healthy in two of his first four seasons. All this after going second overall in 2013.
The Seahawks are giving him a chance to revive his career with a one-year, $8 million contract, but there’s no guarantee he’ll improve at this point. Joeckel will get the opportunity to reclaim his place as an NFL left tackle in Seattle, but he needs to improve dramatically to get to that point.
Perhaps Russell Wilson’s escapability and elusiveness will mask Joeckel’s inefficiencies and lower his number of sacks allowed.

I guess the Hawks are desperate, I think there were better lineman thay could have scooped up

first off we paid too much for him, flat out paid too damn much and that part still confuses me... he wasnt being heavily pursued by any other teams, yes there was interest but not enough for his agent to leverage a deal like that... this move has Tom Cable written all over it lol people forget how much pull he has as not just the OL coach but the assistant head coach as well... hes the type of guy Cable loves, someone that has shown ability but is still raw, Cable loves to mold guys his way and not have to really deal with changing other things that NFL OC coaches have taught them, he prefers guys who are willing to basically start all over and trust in him that he will do whats right for them... whether its right or its wrong, its just the way he does things, its why we dont go for long term vets from other teams and if we do they dont end up sticking around very long or they end up struggling... Joeckl actually played more than decent at guard before he got hurt this last time around, he really didnt look bad at all, left tackle is where he struggled and i dont think he will be playing that position for us with Cables love affair with Fant still being a real thing... if health allows him then i think he will be an above average contributor on our OL and thats really all we can ask at this point, someone competent, willing to do whatever Cable says to play within our zone blocking system and be able to switch to man to man when we go to that as well, and a guy that has something to prove who will be playing with a chip on his shoulder... he checks all those boxes... i think by the middle of the season our OL, if healthy, will be better than expected... we wont be world class by any means lol but we will be serviceable and thats all we really need ... cant wait for football season!!!
