Suspect May Be Responsible For Four Stabbings

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento police are searching for a serial stabber who victimized four people all in the same area along Del Paso Boulevard. Police say in each case, a man on a bicycle rode up to someone walking along the street and stabbed them before riding off/
The odd thing, police say, is that there seems to be no motive for the stabbings, and no robbery or other crime was committed during the assaults. One victim told FOX40, she never saw it coming.
"Muchacho paso un bicicleta," Guadelupe Delgado speaks of a nightmare coming true. On Saturday, she was walking home from work near Plaza Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard when a man rode up behind her on a bike, and stabbed her once in the arm.
"It'd be reasonable for some people to think this guy has some emotional issues, obviously," says Sgt. Matt Young with the Sacramento Police Department,
Police believe Saturday's random stabbing is one of four that can be traced to the same man. The other three happened within a short distance of each other along Del Paso Boulevard and each person was stabbed once in the upper body, before the bicyclist rode off.
They all occurred before dark, between 12:30 in the afternoon and seven P-M. Police say the victims are both men and women and their ages and races vary.
Shockingly, one of the victims is a mother who was pushing her baby in a stroller at the time of the attack. "It happens so fast sometimes it's difficult to get a look at the perpetrator when an attack like that happens," explains Sgt. Young. "There were no words exchanged prior to the attacks, no provocation."
So police are hoping someone in the community will come forward with information that leads them to the suspect.
In the meantime, those who live and travel through the area remain on edge.
"Especially when you have kids you have to keep an eye on your kids and look at everybody like they're weirdos or something, you know," says Marlene Newman who lives in the area.
"Keep an eye on my back, try to listen and look clear of everything that is going on around me. Try to keep people from getting too close to me, especially from behind," those are the safety precautions Sacramento resident Melvin Ellis takes.
A good idea police say, until they track down their man.
Police describe their suspect as a Hispanic man who is 22 to 29 years old, between 5'7" and 5'10", and 170 pounds. He also has black hair and brown eyes. If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
