In regards of fighting at their primes, I think about it as where it would take place. Roy didnt want to fight Calzaghe or Darius. But you have to remember, Calzaghe was a super middle and Roy jumped...so yes, Calzaghe probably would have lost. Fighting when they were both at 168, well...I think the winner we be whoever would be in their own backyward. I dont think either fighter could have pulled off a win away from their home turf.

Home turf for Roy being where? America, or Pensacola?

Because Calzaghe would have most likely been the aggressor, and the judges in Vegas typically favor that type of fighter.

I think a Roy in his prime would beat Calzaghe, wherever the fight was, but ''what ifs'' aren't worth a damn. Then we start talking about Ali vs. Tyson, or Hagler vs...you get the picture. You can't win (or lose), so it's just a bunch of opinions.

That's all fine, then; Roy was a great fighter, IMO, but was never one of my favorites; I was always into brawlers and fighters, too, ie. Erik Morales, Diego Corrales, Julio Cesar Chavez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marvin Hagler, but I did like more technical fighters, too, with Winky Wright being one of my all-time favorites.

Wish he'd hurry up and fight, though...

Roy should retire but who knows who he would beat in his prime. In his prime Roy dodged big name fighters and picked and chose sub-par opponents to pad his record. He should stick to mediocre boxing commentary and leave fighting to real fighters.

Who did Roy Jones dodge? Please, list the names so we can take a look.

yea right! Stop it homie, Roy wouldnt have done shit in his prime! Like Tok said he ducked cats and he aint beat nobody good anyway!! And we dont live on shoulda, woulda, coulda, and ifs mane so stay with reality!!
James Toney - 44-0 when Jones beat him. Toney's worst loss of his career and even got knocked down.
Bernard Hopkins - 22-1 when Jones beat him. Hopkins was a bit green but it was the only time in Hopkins career where he clearly lost. His losses against Taylor and Calzaghe were very close, split decision losses. Hopkins believes he won all three. However his only defeat in which he admits to losing is against Roy Jones. That says somethin. Here are a few others he beat:
Mike McCallum - 49-3
Montell Griffin - 26-0
Virgil Hill - 43-2
Julio Cesar Gonzalez - 27-0
Glen Kelly - 28-0
Clinton Woods - 32-1
John Ruiz - 38-4 (heavyweight!)

And the funny thing is he made all of these look bad, in exception to Hopkins.

He beat everyone available to him that was willing to fight. Roy Jones was 49-0 before he legitimately lost a fight. And that was after going to HEAVYWEIGHT, beating Ruiz for a HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP belt, then going back down and losing all that weight in which he got KO'd by Tarver.

Roy's biggest mistakes were 1). Going up to heavyweight then back down too quickly and 2). Getting old.

Think about it - Jones was 49-0 and 34-35 years old by the time he got KO'd. That's impressive. And he won titles in middlweight, supermiddleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. No one has done that before, ever. He beat all the names availible. He didn't duck anyone.

Even Calzaghe said, years ago, that the only man he was scared to fight was Roy Jones. Of course he waits until Jones is 40 years old and way past his prime to fight him. Calzaghe also said Jones was the best fighter of the 1990's! Yes, the 90's, not 2008!

I'm not even a big roy jones fan, but I at least recognize he was one of the most talented fighters the sport has ever seen. Yeah he's looked like shit the last few years because he's got hardly anything left. All he has is hand speed, he doesn't have the cat-like reflexes he once had, which is why he does that shell defense and just allows people to hit him. He never fought like that when he was younger.

it was weak like all other boxing in the last 3 years.....waste of money...
well obviously you pick the wrong ones because there have been plenty of great fights in the last 3 years. Roy Jones hasn't been himself in years and is way past his prime (40 years old) and Calzaghe has never really been that exciting anyways. I could have told you to save your money.

You shouldn't watch too many Titans games; it's lowering your standards. LOL!

But seriously...how can you say that? There's been plenty of great fights in the past 3 years...the R. Marquez/Vasquez Trilogy, J.M. Marquez/Pacquiao, Margarito/Cotto...that's just a few. Come on, man...step your game up!
