ORINDA -The California Highway Patrol is searching for people who may have information concerning an late Sunday / early Monday shooting which took place near Orinda following riot activity at a Concord Bar and Grill.

CHP Officer Scott Yox said he is looking for people who may have witnessed a shooting on westbound state Highway 24 near Orinda at 12 a.m. Monday.

Yox said five people in their late teens were shot at as they rode in a 99 GMC Yukon. Yox said one round went into the back of the drivers seat but only caused superficial wounds to the driver.

According to Yox, when the victims were located in Oakland by CHP officers, they were un-cooperative, but said they had been shot at by a person standing out of the sunroof of a Mazda Rx-7.

Yox said CHP officers were helping Concord police disband what Concord police Sgt. Matt Morrissey described as a riot.

According to Morrissey, police were called at around 11 p.m. Sunday to disband a crowd of 400 to 500 people gathered outside the Bourbon Street Bar and Grill at 2765 Clayton Rd. in Concord.

Morrissey said the crowd had gathered expecting to attend a hip-hop event at the bar hosted by Def Jam Artist DJ Clue & San Francisco DJ Truth but those in atendance became rowdy when they were turned away due to overcrowding.

Officers used taser darts and police dogs to disband the crowd and arrested two people for resisting arrest and failure to disburse, Morrissey said.

Three nabbed in Oakland drive-by
, FROM STAFF REPORTS
Article Last Updated:12/16/2006 12:38:38 AM PST

OAKLAND — Three Berkeley men who police believe were involved in a drive-by, car-to-car shooting Friday afternoon in West Oakland were arrested shortly after the incident following a high-speed police chase that moved onto the freeway and ended up in Berkeley.
It all started at about 2:20 p.m. when Oakland police Officer Mike Osanna and his trainee Officer Angelo Garcia were on patrol in the area of 33rd and Market streets in West Oakland.

The officers saw one of three occupants in an Oldsmobile stand up in the right-front passenger seat, lean out through the window and over the roof of the car and start shooting at a white Chevy Tahoe as both vehicles proceeded north on Market, police said. It is not clear if the Chevy Tahoe or any of its occupants were hit by gunfire.

The officers radioed in the incident, then began chasing the Oldsmobile through West Oakland as far south as Seventh and Center streets, then along a frontage road and up onto Interstate 80 toward Berkeley, reaching speeds of 90 mph at some points, police said.

At some time during the chase, the Oldsmobile swerved into Osanna and Garcia's patrol car, but

the officers were not injured, police said.

The Oldsmobile exited the freeway at Ashby Avenue. Other Oakland officers and Berkeley police joined the chase. About 2:35 p.m., the Oldsmobile pulled into a driveway in the 800 block of Bancroft Way in Berkeley, the three occupants jumped out of the car and took off on foot into surrounding neighborhoods, police said.
All three men were found hiding in yards and were taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m. Police found one semiautomatic pistol inside the car.

The suspected gunman was identified as Armando Roos, 28. The suspected driver was Joseph Carroll, 20, and the third occupant was Emmett J. Harris IV, 23, police said. All three men are from Berkeley.

All were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. Carroll was also booked on a felony charge of evading police.

Police are investigating if the three were involved in any other crimes in the area. As of late Friday, the targeted Chevy Tahoe had not been located, nor had there been any reports of injuries from the shooting.

bourban street in concord sucks. i was seeing a Leftover Crack show that got relocated there at the last minute.. they were so unorganized it was appalling. they didn't allow ins and outs but set up a meager coutyard outside which fit maybe 60 people. when hundreds of people were trying to squeeze in. they did a poor job of acknowledging those of us who bought presale tickets aswell.
and who the fuck is gonna be sloppy enough to try n' pull a driveby with cops right there? i'm sure they just didn't see the cops... but cats shouldn't be so trigger happy.
