ORINDA -The California Highway Patrol is searching for people who may have information concerning an late Sunday / early Monday shooting which took place near Orinda following riot activity at a Concord Bar and Grill.
CHP Officer Scott Yox said he is looking for people who may have witnessed a shooting on westbound state Highway 24 near Orinda at 12 a.m. Monday.
Yox said five people in their late teens were shot at as they rode in a 99 GMC Yukon. Yox said one round went into the back of the drivers seat but only caused superficial wounds to the driver.
According to Yox, when the victims were located in Oakland by CHP officers, they were un-cooperative, but said they had been shot at by a person standing out of the sunroof of a Mazda Rx-7.
Yox said CHP officers were helping Concord police disband what Concord police Sgt. Matt Morrissey described as a riot.
According to Morrissey, police were called at around 11 p.m. Sunday to disband a crowd of 400 to 500 people gathered outside the Bourbon Street Bar and Grill at 2765 Clayton Rd. in Concord.
Morrissey said the crowd had gathered expecting to attend a hip-hop event at the bar hosted by Def Jam Artist DJ Clue & San Francisco DJ Truth but those in atendance became rowdy when they were turned away due to overcrowding.
Officers used taser darts and police dogs to disband the crowd and arrested two people for resisting arrest and failure to disburse, Morrissey said.
