On a side note: How many raft people do we see from Venezuela? Why are Venezuelans being treated better than Haitians? Does anyone in here care to argue the point that Venezuelans are worse of politically/economically than the Haitians? Anyone want to ponder why the congress’s 4 most prominent proponents of the Cuban American lobby are the same congress people pushing this issue? Anyone want to show us all the statistics on wealth and “race” for those Venezuelans that are seeking “asylum”? I would assume they couldn’t be rich and “white” could they?

im not talkin about OPPORTUNITIES and "WHAT IS POSSIBLE" im talkin about what ACTUALLY OCCURS....i know entire city bloccs here in stoccton that consisit of poor ass cambodians who fled here from thier country thinkin it would be a better place but they live in 3rd world conditions right here in america......and i have cambodian homies who tell me themself that thier parents regret coming here cuz its not that much different except now they live in a city fulla people they cant understand or get along with because of thier differences.....they grow thier own vegetables...have goats and pigs in the house......seen people who actually ripped up floors to grow rice in thier bedroom.....shits crazy.....i mean its partly thier culture anyways but they have to really survive like this cuz its hard for the older ones to learn english and get good jobs and the younger ones fall into the wrong crowd and start gang banging and selling drugs....then they end up in prison or dead......pretty much what would of happened to them in thier own country.....i didnt say it was great in thier homeland or better than here im jus sayin that a lot of these immigrants had a different idea of what they were comin to when they left home........

of course everyone has a "chance".....any of us can go to vegas and win a jaccpot too but that dont mean its gonna happen......

Chavez has won each and every election with landslide victories so that must say something about how the majority of residents of Venezuela feel about him.

Most all of the poor and working class love Chavez, the upper class (many of the white, or light skinned Venezuelans) hate Chavez for selfish reasons (they fear he will take away some of their wealth or make it more difficult to continue to exploit the working class).

Since Chavez has been in power he has certainly changed the country for the better on almost all levels (eduction, health care, economy, etc.)

Ontopic: I think Chavez has a positive effect on Venezuela and surrounding countries. I read and heard a few things from people who were there with the elections, and the way they were held was amazing. Can't say they could have been manipulated in anyway

Being a socialist myself I pay very close attention to Venezuela and the revolutionary situation throughout Latin America in general. Even though I have spoken to several people from Venezuela that support Chavez, as well as members of the socialist organization I am involved with visiting Venezuela on a regular basis and even have our own party established there, it's always good to talk to others that are actually from there and have family living there because I cannot forget that it's people like you who have the most at stake.
