REESE THOUGHTS on LOCKSMITH & "BAY LOVE"

Earlier I had been reading these posts on the whole Locksmith thing and I was thinking, "Are fools only gonna vote for him cause he from Nor. Cal?, What happened to being tight on the mic?". I got a chance to tune in and really take a look at Locksmith in action, and the boy is dope. He was the better by far of the 2 mc's that stood in the middle of that "battle" ring today in New York. Let me say that shit again for the slow people, LOCKSMITH WAS THE TRUE WINNER. What does that tell us about how the "powers that be" view Cali rap, and more precise Northern Cali. We have seen over these past 15 years, that Southern Cal rap is "the accepted" rap that comes out of Cali. Yea, some of yall will say what about Lynch, Bo, and other cats alomg them calibers. Thats true, BUT, the styles that they are rappin have been pretty much a "Gangsta-Rap" style which the media will say has its roots in So. Cal, even tho we know better.

I respect LOCKSMITH cause he wasnt shoutin out no paticular city, he was announced as being from Northern California, so he was reppin for all of us, from land north of Fresno and all the way up....NORTHERN CALI. We have too many divisions in this shit. Well I'm from San Jose, I'm from Frisco, I'm from Sac, I'm from the "O", etc...... We witnessed today that the East Coast take care of they own, and that encompasses all areas in the Eastern part of the U.S. (where was reignman from? Philly?) Me personally, I dont ride the Bay Car, I would rather say Northern Cali, thats all of us out here in these areas, rep for all or none at all....


Now to these big indie labels out here in Nor. Cali. We have all just witnessed a nationwide broadcast of a rapper who made it to the finals out of a field of 1,000. He has the exposure, he has the skill as we have seen, and he is ready to do his thang. Which one of these "big time" labels gonna step up for the Bay/Nor. Cal and get this man his chance? Cut an album on him and put it out there? Done Deal? Apt. 3? 40 Ounce? MurderDog? Killa Valley? Get Low? Inner City? etc........ Where is the Bay Love? Cause LOCKSMITH is coming back a soldier in this game fresh from NYC puttin it down for us out here with a "Recognize The Bay" t-shirt and all that good shit!!!

Kevin Lyles from Def Jam gave the fat bitch from Jersey his number so he could prolly get something goin for her, one of these big scratch doing thangs indie labels need to get at Locksmith also in my opinion, just like they taking care of theirs, lets take care of ours. If I had bread like that, it would be no problem, a muthafucka would drop LOCK some scratch and put some paperwork on him so we can start recording his shit. I aint got it like that, but I bet a few of these drop-an-album-every-other-week indie labels can do that, once again where is the "Bay Love"?

LOCKSMITH murdered that cat reignman. I wanna give a fat FUCK YOU to MTV for that bullshit. You ask why do I say MTV when all they did was have a vote on-line? Cause there were way more than a few people on that stage that also know as we do that LOCKSMITH won that shit. Them cowards need to speak up. Even Kevin Lyeles from Def Jam said that locksmith ate that boy reign up. Out of all people SWAY couldve said some shit. We all know that reign man got his ass ripped on, but none of them boot-lickin muthafuckas wanted to give the real, and be the one to say, reignman you tight and all that, but today Locksmith got yo ass.....PERIOD. In my humble opinion reignman was no match for Locksmith at all. Lock killed that cat in everyway imaginable.


Well I will conclude my thoughts, by saying this. Who gonna step up to the plate and put Locksmith on? Are these labels gonna drag they feet and wait for another label to do it, then it will never get done at all? Some of these labels have all the resources (Studio, production, scratch) to do an album on old boy right now! If nothin goes down for this cat, it will be the "Bays" loss. Then we will see exactly why some of our most gifted rappers/talents must venture out to other places to get the love and recognition that they couldnt get at home. It will also put that slogan of "Bay Love" on the same level that "Quit the Hatin & start 408'n" is on, the level of not meaning SHIT.


This is just my opinion, my few cents that I felt needed to be put out there. Can I get some feedback?

All day I see posts on here on how muthafuccas is doing shit so big, who they was hangin out with, how many Navi's they got wrapped, and where they been and who they been with "In the game". What is "blow-up" to you cuz? So what if that cat dont get more than 3,000 pre-orders? Put him on out there, that all goes back to what you think blowin up is? You know what I've seen first hand? So these labels can put out these albums every other week, and press some shit up, and get no where near no 3,000 pre-orders, but yet they still doin it (pressin and puttin shit out). So are you saying that these labels are just pretending that they having these lavish parties, and is doin it so big, just to appease the people here on Siccness.Net? i agree with everything you said except about him signin to a bay label.

Personally i think he should stay away from any bayarea labels if he is serious about blowing up, not tryin to knock bay labels at all. But this day in age to blow up and sell alot you need advertisement and advertisement costs money, i dont know of any bay label that can invest a fell million into locksmith to make him blow on a nationwide level, and thats really what it takes. Rap is as big of a buisness as hollywood , the only way to get on a nationwide level these days to to buy your way into it and the only way to do that is get signed to a big label.....when was the last time you saw someone start up a nothin label and blow the fuck up, shit its proally been 5-10 yrs.


Look at it like this , a label is almost the same as a sports agent. They are the ones that will call up the big names and get you guest apperances or will get you booked on a tv show or radio show. They are the ones that will front you the $100,000 to shoot a video they are the ones that will do commericals for you ect ect. Basically a label alone can make and break you if your trying to get big you much better off signing with a known label that has experiance in producing stars than bayarea labels that have never seen a gold selling artist let alone platnium..

Lock is in the position now where he can get in contact with almost any major label and be like 'hey i know you saw me on mtv the other day, im workin on my new solo album i need a label to back me up'....if your in a position like that you gotta take full advantage, why go half way when he now has the shot to go all out nationwide mainstream radio.

get that $$$$, and i know he'll help the bay get exposure if he blows up, he repped us hard on mtv he kept sayin bayarea non stop just showin us love....the new bay
