"My Bloody Life" by Reymundo Sanchez (an alias)

He was a Latin King in Chicago, and this is his autobiography. This book is raw and it has a lot to say to young males in the street. I started it and couldn't put it down till I finished it cuz its written hella good.

good shit mezzano, i'ma have to check that shit out. reading really IS fundamental. i can't picture not havin a love of reading, the shit is like exercise for the mind. fools really should do at least a small amount of reading if possible, especially since all the weed smoke & drank aint doin shit but wearing the brain down, the mind needs to be kept sharp as possible, and reading & writing is obvious ways to keep shit cognitive.

you ever read any of aldous huxley shit? i know a lot of cats don't 'get it', or dig his shit but personally i think brave new world & doors of perception are fuckin classic, ole boy was one of the first to get deep into mescalin & psylocybin & mindbending shit like that and he happened to be a sick ass writer, so he would lay these heavy ass ideas he got while tripping down on paper & the shit is deep as fuck.

a book that did change my life is the Bhagavad-Gita (original version written in 1972 by Srila Prabhupada).

the Bhagavad-Gita is a part of the collection of texts known as the Vedas (knowledge). they're the worlds' oldest known writings and they are the foundation for all knowledge which exists today. the Bhagavad-Gita is the factual explanation of material nature, consciousness, the soul, the mind, false ego, and basically it displays the REAL structure of reality in front of you & in doing so removes the material illusion (maya).

it is pure transcendental knowledge & if you really believe that you have a soul then you MUST read this book. this knowledge is pure bliss mayn so if any of you bookworm-on-the-unda ass b.a.r.t cats is interested, get at me & i'll lace you up with one no charge.

the book that changed my life was
The Tao Te Ching...
gotta find the right version tho
I suggest the one translated by Brian Browne Walker

this guy really understood what the Tao is about...

i suggest all to read this shit...
especially that version.

let me type out the first page for y'all

Tao is beyond words
And beyond understanding.
Words may be used to speak of it
But they cannot contain it.

Tao existed before words and names
before heaven and earth
before the ten thousand things(means the objects of the world)
It is the unlimited father and mother
of all limited things

Therefore to see beyond boundaries
to the subtle heart of things
dispense with names
with concepts
with expectations and ambitions and differnces

Tao and it's many manifestations
arise from the same source
subtle wonder within mysterious darkness

This is the begining of all understanding

shit gets crazy after that...
y'all need to read it

It's great to see some people want to make positive changes in their life. My respect goes out to you because not that many people open their eyes to reality. Take steps forward, not backward.

yeah the Vedas, Tao Te, I-Ching, even Siddhartha (i don't know if you're familiar with this book, it's a fictional story that is based on the principles of philisophical wisdom of both Hinduism & Buddhism.. shit is cool) are good reading if a person has a real interest in understanding what actually exists beyond this material manifestation. these teachings are the highest knowledge, it can expand your mind in ways you aint even know was possible, shit is like the never-ending story.

just think about the size of human, and how miniscule in size each one of us are compared to the face of the earth, and then think about how small the earth is in relation to the entire universe. we know we are floating around in space but we rarely give any thought to just how unbelievably huge it is. our minds are constantly drawn to imagining what the end of the universe is. what does it look like, or is there even an end at all? this shit perplexes the mind like nothing else, and if you can understand that there are is actually an infinite number of universes being created, maintained, & destroyed eternally, then it puts in to perspective the inconceivable nature of Tao, Supreme Absolute Truth, Nirvana, Heaven, Spiritual World, or whatever name it is people choose to give to that which lies beyond our material universe. there is an other side, and this literature is for those with inquisitive minds who wish to transcend to it.

basically everybody knows that the material things we use to make ourselves happy, really don't bring happiness. what we get is a cheap thrill from doing what we want, but the material possession itself can not bring true happiness. real happiness comes from associating with loved ones & friends. look at the thousands of times where "celebrities/athletes/rappers" who seemed to have everything a person could want, still can't escape the mindfuck that reality is & get caught up in some ole depraved type shit. shit is so common it aint even necessary to list names. people aint ever happy or satisfied with what they got because that material shit aint answering the primal questions rattling around everyones brain.. "why am i here?" "where do i go when i die?" "is there ANYTHING out there?" the mind always reverts to these subjects after the material shit we use to distract it get boring. suffering is universal & the four principles of life are birth, old age, disease, & death. every living entity is bound by these principles, and no amount of money, weed, or pussy will keep your mind from thinking about them or from them actually happening. so since we all feel trapped in this life & forced to struggle in it, we all think fuck it just enjoy the ride.

the problem is we all know we aint really enjoying the ride, we're basically just acting like it's all good. this is where the spiritual teachings come in, to explain what is beyond & what we can do to detach ourselves from this material way of life. damn this a long post but fuck it i know from experience the knowledge in these books can change lives & give clarity to the clouded mind, so it's good to see other cats checkin shit out & expanding their knowledge.

i've read monster & donald goines shit, and as a young cat eager to hear that type of game it was duly soaked up, but it really aint no shit you aint heard a million times before, or a million times since then, and seen in a million movies & heard on a million rap records.

it's a funny story how i got into philosophy...
I was a class clown and self proclaimed bad ass in school...and for english class freshman year we were supposed to bring in a book to read...i didn't bring one, so he told me to get one out the back...as a joke i picked the philosphy book which had excerts from a bunch of doctrines...i actually really really felt what two of the chapters were talking about...one was Taoism...another was Zoratarionism? some persian shit...so i was like DAMN THIS IS DEEP YET SO SIMPLISTIC, i wanna read more...so i went out and bought the Tao Te Ching...And as i read, i began to think up questions out of nowhere...then i'd turn the page and the question would be answered in the book...crazy shit...

but man...i feel what your sayin completely...and i've said it myself before
and yeah i've read Sidartha...good book...real good
wasn't aware that it was fictional tho'...thought Sidartha was actually a real dude like Jesus was...

that's good shit, yeah i've read about Zoroastrianism too. it's an ancient religious system worshipping Ahura Mazda in the context of the universe being an eternal struggle controlled by forces of light & darkness.

the book Siddhartha is a fictional story, but the trip is that Siddhartha is what Buddhas' real name was. he was born Siddhartha Gautama, and then when he discovered & preached nirvana he became known as Buddha (the enlightened one). the book Siddhartha is fictional but it is based on the real life of Buddha & the Vedic culture.

fa sho philosophy is amazing shit, especially when it gets your mind flowing & thinking of concepts & ideas you never would have imagined on your own, it's like you said the shit is SO FUCKIN SIMPLE, you can't imagine how you never thought about that type of shit before. and it really does raise & then answer questions, shit is a trip.
