yeah the Vedas, Tao Te, I-Ching, even Siddhartha (i don't know if you're familiar with this book, it's a fictional story that is based on the principles of philisophical wisdom of both Hinduism & Buddhism.. shit is cool) are good reading if a person has a real interest in understanding what actually exists beyond this material manifestation. these teachings are the highest knowledge, it can expand your mind in ways you aint even know was possible, shit is like the never-ending story.
just think about the size of human, and how miniscule in size each one of us are compared to the face of the earth, and then think about how small the earth is in relation to the entire universe. we know we are floating around in space but we rarely give any thought to just how unbelievably huge it is. our minds are constantly drawn to imagining what the end of the universe is. what does it look like, or is there even an end at all? this shit perplexes the mind like nothing else, and if you can understand that there are is actually an infinite number of universes being created, maintained, & destroyed eternally, then it puts in to perspective the inconceivable nature of Tao, Supreme Absolute Truth, Nirvana, Heaven, Spiritual World, or whatever name it is people choose to give to that which lies beyond our material universe. there is an other side, and this literature is for those with inquisitive minds who wish to transcend to it.
basically everybody knows that the material things we use to make ourselves happy, really don't bring happiness. what we get is a cheap thrill from doing what we want, but the material possession itself can not bring true happiness. real happiness comes from associating with loved ones & friends. look at the thousands of times where "celebrities/athletes/rappers" who seemed to have everything a person could want, still can't escape the mindfuck that reality is & get caught up in some ole depraved type shit. shit is so common it aint even necessary to list names. people aint ever happy or satisfied with what they got because that material shit aint answering the primal questions rattling around everyones brain.. "why am i here?" "where do i go when i die?" "is there ANYTHING out there?" the mind always reverts to these subjects after the material shit we use to distract it get boring. suffering is universal & the four principles of life are birth, old age, disease, & death. every living entity is bound by these principles, and no amount of money, weed, or pussy will keep your mind from thinking about them or from them actually happening. so since we all feel trapped in this life & forced to struggle in it, we all think fuck it just enjoy the ride.
the problem is we all know we aint really enjoying the ride, we're basically just acting like it's all good. this is where the spiritual teachings come in, to explain what is beyond & what we can do to detach ourselves from this material way of life. damn this a long post but fuck it i know from experience the knowledge in these books can change lives & give clarity to the clouded mind, so it's good to see other cats checkin shit out & expanding their knowledge.
i've read monster & donald goines shit, and as a young cat eager to hear that type of game it was duly soaked up, but it really aint no shit you aint heard a million times before, or a million times since then, and seen in a million movies & heard on a million rap records.
